So while putting on the tires I noticed the one cv boot pinched a bit got the axle out but now can't get the out cv apart. I read that it is supposed to take a hammer blow to the inner race and a retaining spring will collapse and release the outer cv from the shaft. Not having any luck with this procedure. Got it all cleaned out now but no coming apart. Do I need to remove the inner boot and separate that cv and leave the outer one together?
Its the front right side outer cv boot that needs to be replaced.
