I have 2 questions.

1 - my 2019 M8000 is revving high coming down hills.
Just coasting down the rpms are hitting 4 to 5000.
If i hit the throttle its like an engine break. The rpms go to 6 to 7000 and the sled slows down.
What the hell is happening?

2 - where or who do i contact that can repair Klim gear. Ripped my pants.

Thanks.

Back shifting, the secondary is staying at a shifting state being driven by the track

Sure sounds and feels bad. Buddies 2020 Alpha isn't that bad. I almost have to stop before i can go again. Where i should be able to get back on the throttle and go again

Sounds different and it vibrates, when you give it throttle, you are causing the secondary to open and it temporarily drives the engine.

Also make sure your belt is good if you haven’t done that already

Sounds like its not back shifting like it should once you let off it should start to return to “1st “ so to speak, or lower ranges. usually I have to blip the throttle constantly to keep my clutches engaged enough if I want it to have some engine braking. Otherwise they completely disengage and now your free wheeling down the hill. Could be due for some clutch maintenance. I just worked on a buddies sled, one of the roller bolts broke and was jamming things up in the secondary. I try to blow my clutches out with air often. Even after one trip alot of black dust comes out.

as far as my Klim suit, I sent it to Klim off of warranty and they still only charged me for a portion of the repairs. They didn’t just sew the tears, they replaced that entire panel. I was quite impressed. You would never know it had been damaged. Not a good option mid season though, unless you have spare gear to use. Cheers!

Thanks.

My 2018 does the exact same thing. I had 600 miles on a belt and it was aggressive but not crazy. Put a brand new belt on before last and it engine breaks harder than hell like you are describing. I just let it hold me back. If you need to disengage grab a quick handful of break and then gas it to accelerate. It’s the auto deflection primary I think.

I used a iron on patch to repair my Klim pants. Worked great. I dont think sewing is a good idea. They will get wet through the stitches.

Patch kit ordered.
See how it goes for Applying when they get here.

Pulled the clutches.
Primary had one broken tower bolt. Broke at the shoulder.
What i thought was hair line cracks on the edge of the sheave turned out to be belt material or dirt. It cleaned off with scotch bright.

The rollers looked tarnished. I cleaned them up. Can feel a ridge where the weights ride. Cleaned up the weights as well.
Will order new bolts tomorrow and a new ring gear.

The secondary looks okay. Without pulling the helix out. Blew it out with air.

Appreciate the advice and tips.
Thank you.

That would have been a wicked imbalance with that bolt gone. Is there any cracking of the cover just to the outside of where the bolt head would sit? Missing material there?

Those are just casting marks in the secondary, not cracks.

In a downhill situation where the track is driving the engine, instead of vice-versa, the secondary will move over into the reverse side of the helix and kind of get trapped there. As mentioned you can momentarily lock up the brakes so the engine RPM drops and the primary disengages, then you will coast.

Found the bolt at the end of the day. Did my best to keep my rpms down driving out. Was a slow trip back down.
Appears to have some fretting around the bolt hole. No cracking or major missing material.

The fretted area.
I guess on the cover there is a small piece broken off.
I don't think that should affect it two terribly.

Picture of the fretted face on the tower and a smooth face.
And the fretted face on the cover and a smooth face.

I would, at minimum, replace that end cover with one of the aftermarket options. Inspect the faces where the belt rides real close for cracks, especially near the centre.

Is the end cover not balanced with the clutch?
