So I took my 900 apart last weekend and found that the nikelsil was chip about a 1/4 inch from the top of the wall. And a chip right below the exhaust port. It was still running the day I took it apart nev blew just figured it was time to rebuild. Turns out it was overdue. My problem is I'm not to sure how it chipped. Other then one day I found that the air jet on the carb was turned all the way in. So my ? Is could ridding it for 10 min like a jack trying to clear it out be the problem?

like I was sayimg before I took the carbs off and found the air needle was turned all the way in. I turned it out and rode all day with no problems.

I highly doubt that the carb adjustment is the problem. Repair the cylinder, do the top end and get out and ride it. Still love these old things.

Ya I have a new one coming and putting high compression speedwerx heads and twin pipes. It should rip just didn't want to take out another cylinder. My buddy broke a skirt last year, rebuilt it without seeing if the bore was out of specs. Three rides later did the same thing in the same cylinder. Just figured I would try learning from my friends mistakes and not do the same thing twice.
