so i noticed last night some small pieces of metal when i changed my diamond drive oil so i decided to pull it apart and found all the bearings appear to be ok however some of the gears are chipped. the sled is an 07 M8 with speedwerx exaust v force reeds, boondocker controler, some mild porting and the previous owner figured it was pushing 160-165 h.p. the factory gearing appears to be 57t/63t on this year, and 55t/65t on the 2010 m8's and 60/60 on m1000's. my question is would i be able to run either one of these other diamond drives and what difference would it make on my sled?

You would have more top end but there is a good chance you would add belt heat. I would think you would have to change you clutching also.I have heard of guys that ride out west using M8 dd in their M1000 to reduce belt heat. Just my thought though.

the 60 60 gearing is also what is in the crossfire 8,you would have to reclutch also you would gain more top end and more belt heat as listed above

The M1000 (60/60) gears are too tall for the M8 in the mountains, but the 2010 M8 gears will work fine. you will have to do some clutching work, and the 2010 gearset doesn't have reverse. Personally, I would go with the Lite Drive from BDX, or just buy a gearst and bearings from BDX and overhaul the existing unit.
