Car hauler/sled trailer conversion-anyone done one up?

Just wondering if anyone here has taken a car hauler or sled trailer and modded it to make it like a toy hauler rv? We are thinking of doing just that, and taking a shell interior then adding things like heat, windows (probable get factory installed ones), fold-down bed, cabinets, etc. I've looked at many toy hauler rv's, and most of them do not fit our requirements for cargo space, and they have many accoutrements which make them heavy to haul with a 1/2 ton truck. So we figured that we'd start with a sled or car hauler, add what we want and not have anything we don't want. Anyone else done this, and what did you do? Did you encounter any problems with your project that we should be aware of? TIA.

We used a four-place enclosed sled trailer and put a futon in it! lol We folded it up and tied it with a ratchet strap when travelling and stored our bedding in the plastic bags it comes in. Worked perfect! I understand you r looking "build" a trailer just thought Id share!

Forest River Trailers, has a Work and Play series that has a cargo trailer build. Something to look at?

I found the same thing when I was looking for a trailer all the ready made trailers when loaded were to heavy for a 1/2 tonne so this was my solution. Have been using it for three years now. Has been a great trailer, it holds two polaris 800's all my tools (need them for the polaris lol) camping gear and when loaded up weighs in at 7000 lbs the only thing I would change is I would have gotton a 20 foot in stead of a 16 would be nice to have a shower

Thanks, that looks like the general idea of what we want to do. What did you do for your electrical? Did you do any hook-up power for lights, etc? I see a battery bank for your 12V.

Are those the ones with the sloping front end? We have looked, but really want the ruggedness of a hauler, with just a few amenities, that's why we're considering a DIY. Thanks for the info.

I sort of did. It works and I didnt take too much time in the craftsmanship. But I am looking for a smaller toyhauler fiver now, like mabye the puma unleashed.This has a shower too and electric hot water tank.
