Is anyone riding Quartz on the Sunday? I'm heading to Revy Sunday night to meet friends, but I wouldn't mind coming early Sunday morning and meet up with some club members for a Sunday ride.

Planning to ride Sunday as well but I guess we won't know where until we meet up on Saturday post ride at the Golden Rim... Depends on how Quartz is Saturday if we go back.

Hi Everyone,

We have decided to ride from the Atlas staging area on the January 8th ride, meeting at 9am and being on the trail around 9:30 seemed to work well on our last club ride.

Please let me know by E-mail, text message, or phone if you will be joining us on this ride and how many people will be in your party.

Thanks

Anyone interested in sharing a ride to the Jan 8th ride in Crowsnest Pass? I can drive and have one spot for a sled on my trailer. Or if you have an extra spot and want to share expenses that would be great too. I'm open to driving down Friday night (assuming I can find a hotel room) or leaving early Saturday morning.

Thanks,

Eric

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to send out an update regarding the Radium club ride. We had discussed meeting at the upper forester staging area, however this may not be suitable for larger four sled trailers so we have decided to move the staging to the lower area. I have also talked to the Windemere snowmobile club and they will be grooming the trail on the Thursday or Friday night before the ride. Please be aware that a trail fee is due at this location, they do not always have somebody collecting but the trail pass fee can be paid at the trail head or in the cabin which both have donation boxes.

To get to the lower staging area at Forester is fairly easy, I have included the directions below. Please ensure that all riders have all required safety equimpment, you will not be permitted to join the ride without a beacon, probe and shovel. These items can be rented for a minimal fee from the University of Calgary outdoor center.

At the current time we are looking at a considerable-moderate avalanche rating and the current weather forcast for Radium is a high of +5 with Sunny breaks, looks like we could be in for some great riding!

i am hoping to be staged and heading up the trail at 9:30am, I will be in the parking lot around 9.

Please let me know if you can make it out,
Jeremy Siddon

Directions to Staging
Once in radium you will head East at the HWY 95 and HWY 93 intersection, this will lead you towards the Sawmill, once you get down the hill take a left on Horsethief creek road (This turn can sneak up on you), stay on this road until you reach a stop sign. Make a right at the stop sign and follow this road until you see the staging area on the left hand side.

Hi Everyone,

I would like to meet at the Cataract Creek riding area at 10:00 am, heading down the trail between 10:30 and 11:00. Please remember to wear all of your safety gear and because this is an Alberta-based ride you should have your sled registered/insured and have an ASA trail pass.

Come out and pledge our riders, support STARS.

Hope to see you all out there.

Directions FROM CALGARY
Take Hwy 2 South until you reach the Hwy 2 and
Hwy 7 intersection, exit westbound onto Hwy 7
(Exit 209). Continue on Hwy 7 until you reach Black
Diamond where you will turn South onto Cowboy Trail/
Hwy 22. Hwy 22 will take you to Longview, once in
Longview head West on HWY 40 for approximately
45 km until the road closure. Once you hit the road
closure head South for approximately 11 km and you
should see the Cataract Creek staging area.

Please let me know if you can make it out.

Hi Everyone,

I have talked to Wes Eror and he has agreed to guide us again on a ride in the Rocky Mountain House area this Saturday. Wes has suggested that we all meet at 8AM at the Tamarack Inn located in Rocky Mountain house for breakfast, this will give him the versatility to take us out in any direction from town. The inn is located at 4904 45 St in Rocky Mountain House Alberta and they can be contacted for reservations or information at 1-877-845-5252 or www.TamarackMotorinn.com.

Due to the fact that there is a variety of terrain in this area please ensure that you have your beacon, probe and shovel with you. Also please ensure that you have snowmobile registration, insurance and an ASA trail pass.

Please let me know if you will be joining us!

Hi Everyone,

The next ride is down in Westcasle, unfortunately there is a good chance that I won’t be able to make it. Doug has already agreed to lead the ride as I am not familiar with that area, so please let myself or him know if you will be making it out. I have included directions provided by Doug below. Please meet at the staging area around 10AM ensuring that you have all of your safety gear (Beacon, Probe, Shovel) and that you sled is registered and insured.

Directions:

Carbondale Snowmobile Staging area is 7km before the West castle Ski area. To get there take highway 22 South of Calgary. Go west on highway 3 to the weigh scale, 4km you will see a Castle mountain ski Resort sign go hang a left and continue South on highway 507. This highway turns into highway 774 at Hamlet of Beaver mines. Continue on this paved highway until you get into the forestry. The pavement ends about 10km from Beaver Mines Hamlet. Go another 1.5-2 km and you will see a sign Carbondale Staging area on your right hand side of the gravel highway.
