would grounding the generator have prevented this from happening. or would grd to the trailer have worked better. maybe a wire to a ground rod bolted to the frame?

In theory all generators are suppose to be grounded, there should be a post on it somewhere to connect ground strap, I know I don't but should.

I was away for the weekend and caught the reports on the USA stations. Not often we make the US News Services.
My thoughts are with the families of the deceased and injured.

It apparently made the news in slovakia aswell, my buddies mom phoned him wondering what had happened. We were at Heritage days when the storm hit and there were tents flying everywhere. Crazy

Sad to hear. We were at Steeper(Cadomin) and had great weather until Sunday evening. Got a storm, sudden wind, rain thunder/ lightning but it all lasted less than 2 hours. Shook the trailer a bit but nothing scary. Heard about what happened on Monday a.m. from another camper.
