The driver has to be careful as the dog can bounce out. I came around a corner once and another guy was coming the other way and I had to hit the ditch. The lab bounced out and landed on his head. I now have a box that is high in the back but open in the front and he likes to wrap his body around my back. The closer you can get him to you the less bounce. You can not gun it and bounce up a hill as he will fly out. At places I am a little concerned about tipping sideways I try and let him out before hand. Same for going down a steep hill I also unload him at the top. You have to be always thinking ya I have a dog in the back. I have had to replace the seat cover but feel that is part of the deal.
