Do not and I repeat, do not take both the patch and a gravol pill. Tried the patch and worked pretty good. Mind you I was bending over most of the day gutting fish, so didnt have a good horizon all day. Still able to eat and have a beer. Next day though I will take a gravol pill as well. I FELT AWESOME! Bent over all day in the boat, ate, drank beer, felt awesome, no wozziness. The next morning I lost most of eyesight. All blurry. Not blind, but couldnt use a phone. Turns out one of the effects of too much gravol (or whatever is in it) is loss of vision. Took 24 hours to get it all back.

If you get gravol get the good stuff. It is behind the counter and you have to ask for it. It contains Dimenhydrinate. The ginger stuff on the shelves is useless. Dosage depends on size on susceptibility to motion sickness. If you are a whimp take more than recommended or if it is really rough increase the dosage. It may make you drowsy.

Where at the coast your going fishing?
There are a few things you can do and take, like patch worn on the wrist as mentioned and Gravol also work's. It depends how bad you get it, i go every year with my boat and 90% of the time take nothing and have no symptom's BUT i do get seasick in the right scenario and sea's and weather have little to do with it in my case.
Here are a few pointers. Don't go out if the weather is going to be rough.
Set up all your rigging at the dock, everything. Avoid completely setting up on the water, such as tying, sharpening, setting up reel's and anything requiring visual concentration.
I setup everything i will need for the day at the dock and organize it so i can do quick gear changes if needed.
I know you won't like this but avoid over eating, light snacks is best and stay hydrated with water. Booze, like beer will make it worst. Plus if your the principle operator and boat has no toilet, there is a legal issue. BTW, piss pot don't count, it has to be, marine term a "head" (bathroom).

Sea sickness(motion sickness) is caused by an imbalance in your equilibrium, you can get "serc"medication tablet's which will restore's vertigo and balance your equilibrium.
You need a prescription for it, if you get it bad, get the serc tablet's.

I've fished the coast line my entire life and seasickness is one of them things that can be hit and miss, its what you do in prevention that works best. Once you get it, it will FUK your trip up badly cause it hangs around for a long time even after getting off the water.

Toilet doesn't help you. Need to be anchored or at a dock to be legal. So, keep the driver sober and do what you want. But Lund is correct, less booze usually equals a better time on the boat if you get seasick easy.

If there is a bathroom on board your passengers can drink and being anchored is not required.

Well thank's, i guess i will tell the wife no more wine for you when were out for the day LOL. I'll break it to her gently.
Non issue for me, i don't drink.
I thought this only applied to small runabouts and not larger vessels with full kitchens and bathrooms, i will look farther into it but i have been boarded before by coast guard for inspection of gear and had bottle of wine sitting on the table, they said nothing about it.
When i lived at the coast i had a 24ft Bayliner Trophy with a cuddy that had a small head. I also had a 32ft Grady White, floating motor home LOL, and there was always booze on board. With the Grady we be out a week at a time, took it up to Rupert from Campbell river couple years in a row fishing along the way.
Now i have an aluminum tin box that almost requires you to wear a kidney belt and makes more noise then has go but i live in the interior.
Looking forward to getting back to the coast fishing in my tin soap box. LOL

Focus on the horizon

I know a lot of people say that but i don't think that ever worked for me.
I don't generally get sick in the inside passage where most of our fishing is done, it's when we venture off shore on the west side of the island. Either when we go for Tuna 80miles off shore from Tofino or cross into the open between Cape Scott and Haida gwaii. I haven't done that in years now, my current boat isn't up for that.

I went to and from Hibernia on a Maesrk supply ship... Scopolamine patches work but I fell over in the shower when I closed my eyes... also wash your hands after application and removal, the application spot behind your ear as well. The medic onboard was shooting us up with liquid gravol as well. Pukey flatlander right here lol

was pretty rough coming out of Bella Coola this am at 6:30... water is flat out here at Shearwater though. Buddy had extra Dimenhydrinate pills, one last night then one this am and no issues.... just unpacking at our floating cabin and tying up some gear and heading out soon!

We got a pontoon boat, I asked many people, all said the cops here don't really ask to see toilet, especially on a pontoon boat
At one time a sink was also needed, but it not
