Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for a sled for my 2 kids that are 4 and 6 years old. I'd like something fairly decent. What are your thoguhts? I'm thinking a 120, but not sure what brands are fairly low maintenenace and run well. Thanks in advance.

Got my 3 year old son a pro 120... I think the 120's are pretty much all the same. They are a little underpowered from factory.....but with a few changes they can be made to go faster.

In our group...lol there is 4 polaris 120's, 2 brp 120"s and 2 cat's.... all stock the cat is faster then brp then polaris (I know it shouldn't matter but my 6 year old grandson seems to think so LOL) it takes little tweeking to speed them up.... we have had the most issues with the cat (mostly chain/clutch), a couple small issues with the brp (as you will see in my avatar!! lol) and so far nothing on the polaris other than my one pilot keeps running into pretty much everything in the yard.... I think the little bugger is doing it on purpose :) lol The sleds are all about 3 - 5 years old now and have had them since new..

My son started on a Polaris 120 when he was 5.
Added a power kit when he was around 7 (over $500.00 for 3 mph)
Never had a problem with it other than make sure you drain the fuel after each season or ours simply will not run.
My sons still use it today to pull friends on a sleigh (they are now 12 and 9) the thing is a tractor and tons of fun.

Whitetail, we bought our son an Arctic Cat Z120 when he was three years old and has been the best sled I have ever owned! He and his brother have ridden and continue to ride it for hours at a time - amazing since he is now 16 yrs old and his brother almost 13 years. They build small race tracks, jumps, and as they grew up practiced all their mountain moves. Can't comment on the other brands however believe they are all good with four-stroke bullet proof motors. Enjoy!

Momma - great video of the little guy showing his stuff! Amazing how fast they learn... and grow up.

About how much $ are the 120's running now. Any chance Skidoo will bring back the Mini Z? I ride a Doo if the little ripper has to ride a Cat or a Poo there might be a little tension in the family.

Thanks everyone. I am convinced I need one............ and it probably won't take much to cinvince the kids they want one. LOL. Don't imagine i'd be able to find one right now, so best option would probably be to snow check one?

I bought a new 120 in 2003 for our oldest, and both the kids rode it for a couple years each. I found it was a great starter but they were really quick, quicker than I expected, to want something bigger and faster. Silly me! This is our kid fleet now.

I'm thinking the same OP. a 120 for my guy who will be 3 next season. A kitty cat seems like a waste of time and money. They can't seem to go many places due to the super low travel.

Would be nice if doo put out a new Mini-z.

I will probably buy in the summer out of season. Saw a sno pro 120 just recently for 2700, new. Going to Alaska again next fall and may just pick one up then, msrp is 4-500 less. Depending on where you buy - no state or city tax. Not sure about duty On something like that though.

IF you can find one the old Yamaha Snow Scoots are awesome for the 6 year old. You can't beat a Kitty Cat for the younger kids as it is pretty hard to get yourself in trouble on one of those.

Had a lot of good times on these 2 sleds.

Wow that little s#!^ can ride. Chris Burant look out. Momma the 120's are the way to start them young for sure after that (8 Yrs and older) I think the biggest issue is reliability and easy starting. Saw a few 340 Pumas with electric start that would be ideal for young boondockers.
I'm building a 1975 340 TNT for the grandson when he's old enough. Right now he's 18 months and rides in front hanging on to gas cap with a grin on his face you can't remove. Good luck finding sled. Those kids sled are worth their weight in gold.
Thx

The smaller KC chassis might be better for the little guys to start on. Seems like they hold their value and would sell quick. I think I would rather buy one 120 from new and hang onto it until its outgrown. The little people's sleds have XM like lack of depreciation lol!

Thanks everyone. Put a deposit on a 2014 Polaris for next year. Was really hoping ot have one this year for the kids to finish off the season, but things just didn't come together for me quick enough. I unfortunately started looking waaaaaaaaaaaay to late. Thanks for sharing all your experiences and information.

Hands down the yamaha sno scoot!
Another vote for the old SnoScoots....if you can find one. With a little more power in them the kids won't outgrow them quite so fast, and they really went well on the trail riding with the bigger sleds too. Didn't have to leave them in the yard all the time.
