Was doing some work with the mitre saw and as I was putting the blade down to cut some wood the plastic guard caught the rotating blade.

....BANG.....

Scared the crap out of me and sent plastic parts flying everywhere. Lucky nothing hit me. I'm still missing a big chunk of the guard, may have landed in the neighbors yard.

So do you think I can glue it together and keep going????

(lol...lol...lol)

WTF....not good....that right there is exactly why people need to wear safety glasses....Lucky you never got hurt! I'd be doin a write up and send it into Sears with those pics....Craftsman isn't exactly on the top of the list when it comes to tools but they aren't at the bottom and generally they make a pretty decent product for the DIY'er but certainly....should never come unwound like that. God you could've lost an eye....I'd be writing them 100% hand down! They may have a faulty batch....could save someone else from injury and get your unit repaired...never know unless you try. Good luck.

sounds like my old man...:)
Ever graze your finger on a blade while clearing a cutoff??? you would think different, LOL

I am betting that you were cutting on a 45, and cutting something thick like a 2x4... or you were hogging out something and caught the guard,

Hey Cuso - it was a baseboard and a straight cut, not even an angle.

sounds like my old man...:)

I've wrecked a couple of those in my time. You'd be surprised what you can fix with a 2 litre pop bottle and duct tape.. LOL

I knew a one eyed man once, boy did he take good care of that one eye. Eye protection always.

This is what you need. New technology that senses when a finger or any other finger like limb gets in the way. They have them for all types of saws.

Cheers

(John Bobbit could have used this one)
