Stole this off of the Blow West site...good points as the season approaches to read and think about....don't do the following....

1) go ride without a beacon/shovel/probe?
(2) not tell anyone where they will be riding & their return time?
(3) not read the avalanche reports & conditions?
(4) not insist they ride with similarly prepared riders?
(5) ride without life insurance?
(6) ride without a partner?
(7) highmark on wind-loaded slopes?
(8) ride with no knowledge of the snowpack?
(9) ride having never taken an Avalanche saftey course?
(10) Build a spectacular machine and learn how to handle it, yet have no knowledge of the environment in which you operate it in?
(11) put the thrill of today's un-prepared ride ahead of your own safety and the welfare of your loved ones?

Print this out.
Read it - and heed the warnings

Some very good points,I just wish all the people who say they need a avy course would take one.Talk is cheap.Of all the guys I rode with last year 3 other than myself had on hill couses. The beacon part of the on hill course was very eye opening for me as i thought at that time (before any courses)that I was pretty good with beacons.Boy did I and still do have a lot to learn.
Dont say your going to take a course!
Do it!!!!!!!!!
