Jet A fuel is basically kerosene, you could run it in a diesel or vice versa run diesel in a turbine engine that requires Jet A, jet B is the same but cut with naptha for cold temps like here. Im not positive on the similarities of VP and avgas besides they smell the same are leaded and have close to same octane and flashpoint.
What does 100LL avgas cost and what is the Motor Octane number?
As I understand pump 91 is 88-89 Motor Octane and costs $1/litre. VP C12 is 108 Motor Octane and costs $4/litre.
Is there any cost advantage to 100LL or should one just blend pump and VP to achieve the desired octane rating?
Edit: I took a long time to type this comment and didn't see New24stroke's comment. With all due respect I think 100LL may be 100 Research Octane (RON) but closer to 91 Motor Octane number. Ie: marginally higher than pump premium.
I might be selling my 04 Summit to a guy in Ft Mac. It has 14.8 domes in the RKT head (800 drop-in kit) so I'm sure it won't survive 1300' elevation -20C Ft Mac conditions on pump 91. I'm wondering if it would be safe on 100LL though?
I just got bent over on 5gallons of c12 I paid 10$ a liter Cant believe
i'm stupid eneogh to acctually pay that,,, I need to find a better source
or I think I should try out this AV gas (i was going to get 45gallons but at 10$ a liter phuk THAT)
