my brother has the 3000 lb warn winch and he has had nothing but bad luck with it. the first one the gears inside damaged and second one the line would go out but not in

Check your Bro's handle bar switch. That was the issue with the wifes winch. Mine died from the solenoid being too cheap and getting water in it (corrodes contacts fast). Replaced my solenoid with a super winch sealed one from Cantire. Works like a charm.
