Calgary club was up at Atlas Saturday. Wanted to go but was in Lethbridge for Volleyball. How are trails in that area?

My wife and I attended to see some old friends and donate some dollars. We accomplished both. Great turn out and the supper at Pure Country was rockin' and rollin'........

I have always wondered what it would be like to have to move someplace and be a "trail rider". I was that guy yesterday! Not enough snow to get off trail (at least in the 85 km we travelled) and when one did venture into the trees even to turn around to help with people being stuck the lower layer of corn snow was a beotch. I would not be a happy camper riding trails. Had a great time with the group we travelled with, making light of the lack of snow coverage, big rocks that are showing, and all the broken tops of the trees that are well above the snow line. The lunch at the cabin was busy and Doug Cox did a great job. A big thank you out to the Polaris rep Steve for great humour and his donations.

The trail was better than it was two years ago on the Calgary club ride, as there wasn't the horrendous melt that happened back then. The grooming yesterday was more than great; it was exceptional! The only problem was that there is not enough snow on the trails to prevent the skis from ticking rocks throughout the day. Quite sad for this time of year. Every time I ride in the Pass, I am amazed at the amount of grooming that is done. There is a chit load of groomed trails. Great work on the part of the Crow Snow Riders and Joe, the groomer guy!

Even got into the official "window mountain" area (that in itself is another story)...........

How is the atlas snow conditions currently, is this a good area for new riders in a group with some experienced riders, can you currently ride from crowsnest mountain resort and is it a good place to stay.

I haven't stayed at the Crowsnest Mtn resort in years, but when I did it was great! No idea if you can ride from the resort...we always trailered. It usually looks very brown from the highway. It's 5min from resort to Atlas.

I believe the resort is actually closed...you wouldn't be able to ride from there anyway.

Atlas and York have riding for every skill level, great groomed trails and warmup shelters.
