Interesting that my comment was deleted. Hmm, I didn't come off as a greenie or show myself to be an ignorant anti-greenie. ...apparently that's totally unacceptable.

Also going to be enforced harder. Alberta gov is buying more equipment to check diesels.
I know of one guy who put a lot of money back into his truck to hook the emissions stuff back up.

yup their trying very hard to kill the diesel market... meaning except for guys who tow it no longer pays to have a diesel 3/4 ton for the average joe who doesn't use the truck for work... no reason diesel should be more expensive and hooking up all the emmissions stuff just drops your fuel milage... i don't get how that's good for the environment... with todays technology take emmissions out and you have one great power plant with good mileage... IMOP

I know a guy who work for cummins that has said all their R & D is going into LNG not trying to build a diesel motor that runs great with great emmission that boat has sailed... thank California

damb... what did you say?

Told 'em to give their head a shake and be more discriminating about what they read and the bandwagons they jump on. Mentioned that, while there's some doorknobs that modify their trucks JUST to roll coal, there's many other reasons why someone might do it. You might invest in diesel performance for fuel mileage, power, and/or juts be a truck enthusiast with deep pockets. Then there's some that do it as a status symbol, but that's no different than the guy who goes out and buys a Mercedes for nothing more than the emblem on the hood. ...either way, they're not that big of an impact on the environment, relatively speaking.

Alberta needs something to many douchebags smogging everyone out at red lights, diesels aren't the problem I drove one for years but the idiots who own them being inconsiderate asshats will ruin it for the rest.

Sounds like someone has to read up on fuel emissions, and how they work. It's not based on the amount of fuel burned, but how you burn it and how the emission systems process the exhaust gasses and soot.

Ever notice how everyone wants to outlaw things that other people enjoy doing, things like snowmobiling in the wilderness, or atvs that might leave ruts. Yet we bulldoze millions of acres of forest a year around the world to feed the city rats that try to outlaw these activities we enjoy and yet don't understand the environmental impact that their own existence has on this planet. Governments work so hard to limit the small amounts of pollution we emit from diesel trucks yet this can all be undone by a forest fire started from a cigarette butt, seems really counterproductive to spend thousands of dollars per diesel vehicle in emissions equipment to stop a few grams of carbon from entering the atmosphere. Don't get me wrong I don't approve of blowing black smoke everywhere either, but we are getting to the point where we are legislating all of our freedoms away.

you can't roll coal on new diesels if all the emission controls are in place....

us dealership owners are supposed to tell you keep the emmissions on the truck they work awesome there amazing! but in all honesty they suck and dont last! you just cant get the mileage or life out of these trucks like we used to get. im glad im getting less and less smoke tune calls i think the big problem is these kids go on you tube and watch a highly modded drag or sled pull truck roll some coal and instantly think god they make huge power and lots of smoke i need smoke for power in my 99 cummins. slowly but surely we are informing people about clean high hp tunes. These emmissions are a joke the soot traps in a heavy piece of precious metal and then uses more diesel to heat it up and burn it off so you dont see it but lets also make the mileage worse and cut the engine life in half so we have to produce more vehicles and burn more fuel that sounds good to the enviroment to me haha. Our emmissions warranty claims are insane for how many failures come back from them.
