Was up in fort mcmurray last summer for a few week. And will be moving there next month. Last summer i heard of people going up to fort chipewyan on the gravel roads on bike. Is this possible, dont know much about it all. Any info on this would be great, such as; travel time, road conditions, etc.

Thanks in advance.

What kind of bike?

We go up on the quads from the staging area and it's about a 4 hour ride from there to 6 lakes. If your on dirt bike you wont make it without someone hauling your gas, food, gear in for you.

The road is all sand, its actually the winter road but it is one of the nicest rides you can ever make.

Check out some of the old threads on here for the Richardson Back Country and I am sure you'll find all of the information you'll need.

you cant make it all the way to fort chip during the summer. or not without a boat. you can make it as far as the delta for sure.. if you cross it then closest you'll come is lake athabasca.. boat or plane only for that place in the summer

Fort Chip is on the opposite side of Lake Athabasca from where youd end up biking to. You'd make it to the delta but unless you have a boat or can water skip to the other side you aint going to make it.

Oh, water skip would require about 60km of water to cross.
