Here is my resident chubba wubba beaver. His latest project is falling a 18” inch diameter, 100ft tall cottonwood. Cottonwoods are junk trees and dangerous so he is helping me out. So far he has put in three nights work. I think the fourth nite he should have it down.

So were is the picture of the tree this beaver cut down.
Always amazes me that there never get killed by a fallen tree.

I’ve been keeping the beavers busy by digging a hole in their dam. The trail cam catches the repair action. The 1st time one beaver did the repair. On the second Kanedog dam vandalism, a crew of two beavs showed up.
In addition to dam repair, they resumed the tree falling job last nite. Tonite they might finish. The coyotes are nearby and howling that might affect the falling schedule. Stay tuned.

Hooray for Beaver! The cottonwood tree is down and all the bark is gone. It must have dislodged in a recent windstorm. I didn’t know beavs ate cottonwoods. I put the clown near the nice big cedars so they don’t chop them down. A kind of beaver scarecrow if you will.

They are currently reinforcing their dams. Maybe they know the big lower mainland earthquake is coming?

Looks like they are having some sort of beaver logger spots too!

At the end of my gramps driveway he had a pond that was attached to a big marsh. Every few years the beaver would move in and plug up the culvert. We trapped and shot them all for one. He was the king. Wait till night and then spend all his fun in the dark plugging that culvert. So my gramps put a motion detector light on the culvert. That worked for probably 3 nights. Gramps thought he had him beat. On the fourth night he looked out and seen the light on. That beaver worked all night plugging that culvert.................with that light bahahahaha. We got him eventually. We got him on a leg hold about two weeks later.
