It's just your back... Not like you need it or anything!
If it makes you feel any better I have NO idea who is delivering my baby... It could be one of 5 doctors that I have met each once.

oh the joys of living in bonnyville. i guess it is probably the same in any other smaller town though. as far as doctors go you get whoever drew the short straw that week.

Ive had good and bad experiences! It was pretty good when I was young as I was a very sick child. I have severe asthma and breathing problems and spent a lot of time in the hospital. However as an adult with asthma I am now having a heck of a time finding a Dr who cares to help me, here try this puffer out for awhile, it costs $150/month, glad I have some coverage for that; however I also have severe allergies and all they say is take as much reactine as you have to! So as of right now I have to take at least 2 extra strength a day and more if required. That costs me $50 for 120pills, so not even 60days. I went for testing to see if they could give me the shots and was told nope with your asthma involved we will kill you.And that was that, didnt even try to figure out a different way to help me.(O wait he also told me to get rid of all the carpet and buy all new furniture in my house; yes ok I will just bend over right now and pull the $$$ out required to do that) I now bought ($1000) an IQ air purifier it helps a bit.
Also for years Ive had really bad knees, was told at 14 I would have to live with it because I grew too fast. ( from 5'4 to 6feet in a year) However these last few months I can hardly walk bcuz now there is something really wrong with my right knee, took me 3weeks to find a Dr who cared to help me, waited 5weeks (actually lucky I heard) to get an MRI, waited 2weeks for results. (Apparently at some point I permanently dislocated my kneecap and now it sits diagonally on my knee) That was 2weeks ago and now I am waiting to hear from the surgeon, that could be another week. Then Ill guess I wait at least 6weeks to see him. And my guess is I will be sledding with a busted knee this winter cuz I cant see the surgery happening before then!

Ron I feel for you, I hope your new Dr leads you so some relief!

if it makes you feel any better, my wife delivered at foothills in calgary, and her OB was not the delivering doctor!!!!!!! not that it really matters, the residents do all the work and the OB just puts their name on the sheet to get paid!!!!!!!!!

not much help now, but this is called osgood schlatters(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osgood_Schlatters ). i had this also when i was younger. chiropractic worked wonders for me with this. and now as a chiro i see many kids with the same problem that got the same advice you did, they just have to live with it! for the most part, this is UNTRUE! like i said, i see and treat this with a pretty high efficacy every week in my office. and not sure about the knee cap, without seeing the x-rays or MRI, but i do lots of knee adjustments for the same type of things as well! just saying..........

Wow that would have been good to know a long time ago! Ive been going to a chiro since I was a newborn. Not once has he ever mentioned he could adjust my knees. And a Dr never sent me there. They told me there was nothing to treat it. It runs through my family so I will be keeping this in mind when I have children if this happens. Where are you lacated? I usually go to my chiro in ft sask but now live in the city and it is a pain to drive out there for a ten minute adjustment. But its hard to just pick up and find a new chiro that you want to trust cracking your neck. lol

we can't FIX the problem entirely, just help reduce and manage it! the problem is too sometimes that patients don't tell us their knee's, elbows, shoulders etc hurt, so we don't know to ask about them! especially long time patients! i'm down south, but i have several friends in edmonton i can recommend

BC system is no better.I have a 20 yr old recently diagnosed with Chrones. He has been in an out of hospital 4 times in the last 2 months.Every time too admit him it is almost a whole day in ER waiting. They give him morphine for the pain and put him on IV.3 of the last stays he has had to be put up in the hallway with 0 privacy. His last stay was a week ago he spent 5 nites in a busy hallway right by the door where they shred the bed pans[noisy].You are lucky to see the specialist twice during that time.I said too the GI doc what is up as we can't keep returning every other week and a 20yr old should be at the beach not sitting in here.I laid the guilt trip on him and got the usuall we will treat with the next drug after the 3 month treatment is over.Like the saying goes if you have your health you have everything.Scares the bejezzes out of me having to go to the ER and waiTTTTTTT.Oh and a final note all 4 stays in KGH have been a different floor or wing, they just cram you wherever.Next will be probably under a tarp in the parking lot,ohh those spaces are reseved for the docs:eek:

The system has been hijacked by special interest groups, Unions, Doctor's associations, etc. More money is not the answer. The money has to be spent more efficiently, but every time someone says that, the unions and "Friends of Medicare" scream bloody murder, cry that the medical system is being "Americanized" and oppose any talk of reforming the system. Their only solution is to put more money in the system. Well, I don't want ALL my tax dollars spent on health care. What about Education for my child? The entire system needs to be reformed with a mixture of Public and Private, as European Countries do. Doctors nowadays for the most part seem to me more interested in money and prestige than genuinely helping people.

there are alternative treatments that work, and are not based on drugs alone. People just need to be willing to think outside the box

It really is bad. My dad had a stroke (they *THINK* didn't even know for sure! )this summer and it was just a joke. They didn't know anything, things took forever. Spent almost 2 hours in the ER. Thankfully it was so minor and back to 100% normal, no thanks to the healthcare though. I am really greatful and glad I have only been to the doc once in the last 10 years or so, still didn't want to go was told to  Unless I am about to die I won't go, I was in bed sick for 5 days this summer and I was still a long ways away from going. I don't understand how people go so easily, so stupid.

But thinking i'm going to have to go soon. Having problems with dairy. Haven't really ate ice cream or much for milk etc in years or I get sick. Really think i'm lactose intolerant. Not a doctor by any means but if I have to much I feel horrible very soon after :(

But my shoulders and back do bother me from time to time, but if I take it easy they are fine, been watching how I work and consious of it and it's helped a lot. So whatever.

Good luck to all you having issues. Hope it works out.

I don't know where you come from but, throwing up AT LEAST 10 times a day before noon and all the ills that comes with it, does not sound to me like a high quality of life. Yes I went to Emerge to get my first prescription, but because I was so weak, tired and ill - I couldn't wait the 4 weeks to see my GP, nor could I wait the 2 weeks to be seen by the OB clinic. I had lost 5 pounds in a week. On a small individual who's supposed to be gaining weight - that's a cause for concern. And before you jump down my throat, I waited till the second trimester - because every one says it goes away, it did not. I tried all sorts of alternative medicine, with the limited options I had, and nothing worked. I was still - and am still (8 months later) - sick as a dog.

Before you paint everyone with the same brush - be careful as some may be offended by your rather rude generalizations.

I wasn't talking about anyone in this thread, and I wouldn't consider what your describing minor for going to the doctor. Sorry if you though I was talking about anyone in this thread.
