98 summit x y-pipe

if anyone knows about cutting 1/2 an inch from the y pipe in a 98 summit x 670 if they have done it or if it is a rumor? i have heared 1/2 an inch and a whole inch so more info would be great. thanks. and any other performance tricks that can be done cheap?

I think that mod was for the earlier non X sleds. There was instructions on DNE's site last time I looked.

That mod is for the earlier engines. A 501 rotary valve helps a little, case and cylinder porting, headwork, etc.... The 670x was pretty hot out of the box - you'll likely have to spend some coin to make it much better, and it will be finicky after all is said and done.
