95 kodiak 400 not shifting properly

I have a 95 kodiak 400 that started not shifting into gear properly and at times will come out of gear. It seems it will not go into all gears.I also have a difficult time shifting into nuetral and I have to rock the quad to to get the lite to stay on. I was told the nuetral lite problem could be the nuetral safety switch, I will test next time I am at the lake, but I do not think this would effect the shifting problem, Any help would be appreciated. Have you tried adjusting the clutch. Loosen lock nut, turn screw clockwise until it just seats and then back the screw off 1/8 turn, tighten lock nut.

I got a print out from the local dealer on the clutch adjustment and it said as you described how to adjust the clutch except it said to loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster screw counter clockwise til it seat then back off 1/8 turn, could this be a miss print and I adjusted the clutch the wrong way. I thought it sounded backwards to me. Thanks

I am quite sure it is clockwise, then back off.
