Hahaha....i love guy's that are sold on magazine propaganda BS, what a waste of hotair, actually in these cases paper and ink.
Only a newb would fall for that shet. You guys need more time riding and less time analyzing magazine opinions by a dude best experience on a mountain sled is sitting on one.

Why is this BS, well first thing i noticed is the fact the publisher claims a 15lb weight gain on the Cat and a 6lb weight gain on the SW. That's laughable.
I own both, they both use the same chassis and the only real difference is the engine and in this case (Alpha)the rear skid, in their wet weight field test.
In my world through the entire winter both sleds carried about the same snow in the chassis except the SW had at least an extra 5-10lbs on the nose because of the grill design and inner cooler. So essentially the Winder always carried more snow.
I guess in this wet field test they forgot to ride the Winder off trail for only a 6lb gain.

These magazine stay alive through sponsorship, advertising and so on, so sugar coating they are good at.

These are the only numbers worth believing.Weighed buy unbiased snowandmudders. Wonder where they found a 534 lb alpha? For the sidewinder to only gain 6 lbs like Lund said is laughable. Shows there lack of skill if they can’t ride a sidewinder off trail for more than 10 minutes to get some snow in the skid. And for them to not have a 165 doo to have a true comparison is a joke. The Alpha beating the other 850s is the only truth in the article. :)

Not sure what is on the next page but under ( important consideration )
They talk about the sidewinder burning more fuel so not sure if they filled them up with gas for the wet weight.

Chatting with a Doo rep at the sneak peak about the new expert he mentioned "How do you make a sled any better than this? Start all over I guess?" I thought it was a subtle way to say they've got something up their sleeve in the next few years

I'm thinking a new innovative deicing system integrated into the tunnel for a 35lb weight reduction while riding. Available in expertX model in a smurf blue or hot pink color schemes. OH hold on....they already have the smurf blue model for 2019 LOL. I guess for 2020 your going to be able to "latida" through the powder in hot pink then.

Lol Sounds like a comment a salesman would say, that doesnt know anything about his product.
There is alot more that can be done to the expert to make it better.

You can make fun of their lineup I guess but at least they built a full lineup of mountain sleds for 2020. Can your beloved Yamaha make that same claim? It seems to me they have become a part time snowmobile company that shares tech with another company to try and keep their name in the game? Kinda like the Green party joining up with the NDP in BC to keep legitimacy?

If he talked to a sales rep then yes. If he talked to the product specialist then maybe he does know something. Craig does all the shows for that tour, rides new product and is probably in the loop with upcoming product.

he was an engineer I believe. Said he had been testing the expert changes for 2 seasons already.

I'll ride the pink! Currently loving my Smurf blue Freeride like all the other owners.

The heat from the clutches is getting ducted through an updated system on the sides of the tunnel similar to the coolant system.
This will eliminate snow sticking to the full length of the tunnel.
So you were close on your guess, they are also looking at routing exhaust through the same system to eliminating the suitcase muffler.
You should be able to experience a 23# dry weight decrease.
Sorry not till 2021.
There should be an info vid out soon, but that is just a guess

Ya that’s for sure i’m sure in the next year or so they will have a LGBTQ Expert limited edition model coming out. Rainbow colour.
That model should be light weight enough for you all to handle.
