A buddy of mine just purchased a 2013 assault & was looking under the hood yesterday when he brought it home & was wondering if anybody knows why the Assaults don't have the belt drive ???? Asked a mechanic at cycle works and he said he has no ideas why!!! Just wondering

I would guess Polaris figures the Assault drivetrain will see more shock loading & abuse than the RMK so they're waiting a year to see how it holds up

I don't think there is an official reason from Polaris' mouth.

if i was going to get a new sled this year it would be an assault and change the rails to 163 and the track to the 5.1 and add a c3 belt drive WAY over getting a 163 pro....and you would be at the same price as a cat or a doo.

The Assault is Polaris' stock hillclimb entry and they stuck with the chaincase for easy gear ratio changes. Same reason it comes with the competition track standard.
