I picked up a used kx for a good price, used one season then stored until now. I'm scrapping it and starting from scratch rebuilding important parts of the engine and to get it back to showroom shape as it looks it has been a little miss treated. Tune in ...

If it only has one season, set the valves, check your timming chain and tensioner. As these have been known to fail on that year. I wouldn't touch the bottom end or top end. I had the same bike till recently. 5 yrs of racing, still runs like a top.

I am unsure of total hours but judging by the wear it had a bit of use. Front and rear pads are over due, chain slider almost worn, chain guide is eat through, grips worn and torn. All of the above is currently waiting installation plus I have a new piston kit just for piece of mind. I am also installing a hour meter so ill know how many hours from here out. Bike also has leaking oil seals, this area has tons of sand and eats them and rear linkage needs tlc. Whole bike will be reassembled greased and cleaned on the path to a trouble free bike.

Finally got around to stripping the bike down. So far I have new piston in and front forks rebuilt. Bike was super dirty with oil and grease so cleaning is taking alot of time. Here are some pics.
