dianostic light stays on 1997 mmax 600 ? just bought for a spare sled install new pistons and cleaned carbs test drive and light stays on steady???

You'll need it diagnosed? Did you check the throttle sensing switch? I had a '98 and had to replace he throttle off idle sensing switch because the lite stayed on.........

Unhook the battery cables and touch them together for about 10min, then attach back to battery and run the machine to see if that corrects the problem.

I dont think the Mtn max came with elec start back then.

ECU failure. the throttle position sensor will flash a different code.
