Making the move to the 850 from a 174, anyone else make this move and have some real world experience in the pow yet? How does it perform, climb, side hill etc? How's the ski lift vs the 174?

One thing I love about the 174, you can climb walls and never worry about flipping over backwards.

Haven't owned either but I've ridden both. I think the 165 wheelies more and isn't as planted as the 174 but will climb pretty much as well. Much better throttle response and power. A much sharper chassis all around, very nimble. If you're anything like me you will over ride it to start. I'd say the 850 is a prime candidate for some type of aftermarket skid coupling.

I've flipped the 174 over, even with the limiters snugged up a bit

Really I could never flip it over, coming out of creeks that look like walls, it would just dig in.

Excited to try the new one but gonna miss the beast 174.

Ive heard it the g4 165 will climb just as high as a 174. Makes you wonder when they release a 176 inch next year what that mountain goat will do!!!

Just a small bit of info for you all, bought a new enclosed trailer and just about bought a 22 foot until i heard the 165 g4 are the same length overall as the 174 xm. Bought a 24 foot enclosed instead, gonna need that extra space for the ever longer sleds they keep releasing.

I have my doubts it climbs as high in a straight up climb vs the 174. Anyone that rides a 174 knows its a beast. Would have loved to do a back to back climb.

Ya I'm picking the wife's 165 up on the 2nd then heading to the cabin for a few days. My buddy is gonna ride my 174 so I should be able to see a direct relation. Other than break in on the 850 I'm thinking they will be pretty even matched from what I'm hearing.

Ya the new 850 is super responsive and wheelies lots put 60 km on it and love the power but still overriding it... I'm suckin the limiter strap in one hole and headin back to mountains next week...... huge ski lift when the exhaust valves open.... crazy powerband

There's it (and me) going over. It was a gradual climb then hit a wall at the end

I will be riding with a 165 on Thursday. We can see how it does against my t3 174. I Have linderman ported cylinders and p85 primary and team secondary. I'm not stock. But it will give me a good idea how the 850 does.

Just read the snowest forum about the 850s, two guys with blown belts, 1 posted one here. And a handful of recoil issues from heat I assume. When I had my t3 out with a pipe the recoil stopped working. I put foil tape on the recoil, not a problem since. I'll be doing this tomorrow on the 850 before we leave along with brake cleaning the clutch and removing the felt from the clutch shroud.

I'm excited to get this thing on the snow and see what it's all about.

The guys that are saying the 165" is a wheelie monster, is that with stock suspension setup? A couple rear suspension and limiter strap changes would eliminate a lot of ski lift.

I'm 6ft 200lbs. Should I be on 4 or 5 for rear spring? The limiter strap, tightening it would reduce lift right?

If I were you I would go 5 on the rear spring, and tighten the limiter up by at least 1 as a starting point. Softest setting on the front shock, midway on the ski shocks. Adjust from there depending on what you need. If the snow is deep I would go up even more on the limiter. Sled will get up on the snow better and probably not gonna feel front heavy in deep snow.
