Just pulled a 1999 grizzly 600 of my buddy's apart. the machine ran great, kept up with my 660 no problem. The reason we pulled it was cause it burned oil, and we found small pieces of aluminum in the oil filter. We found all four corners of the piston badly scored and the entire piston shirt was ready to break off on the major thrust side of the piston. I think the fact than it ran this good is a testimony to excellent Japanese engineering

Can't beat the reliability of those Yamahas! Have a 1988 Warrior...easily over 15,000 miles. Still runs like a top.

so great you pulled it apart now you can hone the cyl and replace piston with relatively no cost and prob get another 10k out of it :p
