Not being a dick but I found it interesting that there are "about 2700 units" affected. Is that all they sold during 2018?

How many times did they spell Arctic incorrectly?? If basic spelling is beyond some of the staff, is it understandable that other staff members have deficiencies?

This recall was only for the pre release sleds. Cat released a very small amount (2700) 2018 sleds in the winter of 2017. The recall came out in Aug and was a stop sale recall that required all clutches to be removed and replaced before selling of the pre release sleds, and any that were already sold were required to come in for a new clutch

Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!

Cat did not rectify the problem. Cat did a voluntary recall to fix the exploding clutch for the 17 early release and some 2018’s. About 2700 units. Allegedly only one report of a failure. In this thread alone there are five documented and photographed failures. If only one triggered a voluntary recall, five should set off alarm bells at the CPSC and Cat.

The 18’s and 19’s are still exploding and Cat is doing sweet fa to remedy the problem. It’s only a matter of time till somebody gets hurt. Even if you don’t get hurt, an exploding clutch may cost you two clutches, belt, belly pan, pipe, belt guard and a hood. Figure $2,500-4,000 out of your pocket after the one year warranty is done. That’s wtf kanedog is talking about.

Look at the pictures in this thread. It showed many exploded clutches with belly pan damage. Cat is choosing profit over customer safety. Have you ever seen a primary clutch for $1,100cdn? They are doing to recover the cost of replacement/warranty clutches. It’s bs but it’s important to focus on customer safety.

All the info and pics are in this thread if anyone wants to launch a lawsuit. The laws are in this thread, the recall info is here and the photos of failures are here. Pick a lawyer in the states and see what happens. There are laws being broken.

I don’t think Artic Cat put that news release together...it was the CPSC.

Yes...I did that on purpose.

Yes, but only $606 CAD from Country Cat for 0746-885 and $732 CAD for the 2020 - 0746-895

10+ avail of 885 and 0 avail of 895

Gotta sell those 885’s before they sell the 895’s lol

Pulled apart my old clutch today.

Bolts were definitely flexing in the towers and making contact....

There is a serial # and rev number inscribed on the belt deflection bearing.

Old clutch was a REV A , this 2019 clutch is a REV D.

What rev # do you guys have on the 2020 clutches?

Thx, but that crack is actually the tab on the lid.

Once those tabs break off, look out.

I recommend everyone pulling that lid off and checking every once and a while.

And maybe a retorque on the cover bolts.

That pic is of the inside of the cover? Where the cover sits on the tower?
