I feel strongly that a avalanche bag is must, and I think that it is what saved this skiers life ....

I agree. I had to send my canister in for a recall and i felt like a fish out of water without it.

It's funny you mention that. I accidentally blew my bag off on the hill and felt completely naked without it. We all know they are only an absolute last safety defence but still...sucks not having it.

good video, great follow up as well. i wonder if having the bag had an effect on his decision to ski that line?
he noted and showed video that he set off slides earlier....ballsy to ski an exposed line like that knowing there were slab releases in the area.

The best example of bad decision making ever. Considerable danger forecast, recent avalanche activity, heavily wind affected slope with variable distribution, terrain trap (cliff band) but hey I've got an air bag on so I'll head on down.

I've been involved in a number of slides ...
many we would go out of our way to trigger and some took several hours to cut the cornice etc etc ...

nothing can save one from thier own stupidity ...
