2017 yamaha mountain sled preview? Lol

I am pumped for this sled. Think it is great that Yamaha brought a gun to a knife fight. 204 hp stock hp. That makes for easy hp gains with out spending much. I know my viper rtr is 608 lbs with 3"track. Its a blast to ride at 190 hp, can only imagine what can be done with this machine.

    Boost pressure at elevation

With engine turned off the gauge is reading 0 psi. However when at idle it drops to -10. I was wondering if the two wires were reversed on the unit from factory. Will try messing around with that. However I did find that the turbo manifold that bolts from the header to the turbo is leaking...

    Boost pressure at elevation

There has got to be a way to pressurize the controller to see if it is adjusting with boost is there not? I do have a turbosmart controller just have yet to install it as hoping I could get the stock setup working.

    Boost pressure at elevation

Getting sled ready for the season and working on one final issue I have been having with my MCX 190 turbo. Most of the bugs have been worked out with the addition of better clutching and barometric sensor added that was not in instructions on early kits. My final issue is that when I take the...

    Loosing RPM during climb

I am pretty sure it is a 39* helix. It is out of a nytro mtx. I thought the viper mtx ran a 37* helix with pink spring? I believe my machine came with a 47* helix as an xtx but not sure what it was. I could try it if it were the case. The sled has torque for sure. Climbs like a mountain goat...

    Loosing RPM during climb

I should mention that this is a viper. I made some modifications that Climbax told me and made a big difference this year. Just this one has popped up now since I could actually use it now. The header is known to leak at the turbo connection so it could be the case. Otherwise it is...

    Loosing RPM during climb

I have a cold air intake/snorkel. That made a huge improvement right there. The clutching is all new components so should not have anything broken. I just recently had it apart as well to verify. I will take a look for an exhaust leak as it does as you say 174mcx. This is just under...

    Loosing RPM during climb

Not sure if I am getting clutch bind in the secondary or something else is going on. Sometimes when I climb I lose RPM. It is clutched for 8700-8800 but the odd time when in WOT on a climb the rpm will not get above 7600 and gradually drops to 6500 by top of climb. Periodically during mid...

The Genesis 1049 NOISY clutch syndrome

Yes bearing mount or the green loctite works very well at silencing the clutch.

    Who rolls their Nytro?

Yes it can. I roll mine many times on an outing. 7 times in last two days. I do it with the oft valve and tether though. So far so good since 2009.

    Weighed the Viper 162

Yes that is true the viper holds an extra gallon.5 of fuel over nytro. My nytro does not have a turbo and my viper does. The nytro has an earthX36D battery, skinz boards, skinz front end, elka stage 5 shocks, hindle exhaust. Weighed on same scales I weighed the viper which are accurate to +/-...

    Weighed the Viper 162

Lol. I just weighed my 2013 nytro 162 and it was 587 ready to ride. Hmm. The theory that the viper is lighter is not so correct. 617 viper 587 nytro mtx.

    MCX 190 running lean

This was the fix. After the Barometric sensor was hooked into the intake the AFR's have come in line. I would still like it to be a bit richer but 12.5:1 will get me by for right now.

    MCX 190 running lean

Think I found the problem. The early build viper kits did not request the baro sensor to be hooked up to the pressure side of the intake. So hoping that if I connect the baro sensor to the intake that all should be back on track.

    MCX 190 running lean

It's running really lean over 5500 rpm up to wot. Not to sure about just riding it like this. Ride at elevation and prairies at 1500 feet up. Seen a few blow up because of lean condition.

    MCX 190 running lean

Just installed a aem afr gauge on my viper mcx190. I found at 2400' 5 psi the afr runs from 13:1 and up to 15-16:1. Odd flash at 17. Pretty disappointed with this setup as it was supposed to be tune free and just ride with great reliability. I really do not want to burn my motor down right...

    New build advice

Definitely give boost-it a call. There are a lot of haters for 4 strokes and not sure why. The Viper handles very well, easy to throw around once set up right. Suspension setup is key though. I hated mine last year but got the suspension dialed now and it is a dream. Mine ready to ride with...

    162 M1100 turbo weight

Just weighed my viper mtx at 617 lbs RTR even the jerry can on the tunnel and storage bag. Next I am going to be adding some carbon fiber components, not sure what I am doing with headlight as I kinda need it but that hood on the cat is a tank. Will weigh my 162 nytro next and I would put...

    Plus forward A Necessary??

Old thread but my 2 cents. I have a 13 nytro with skinz a arms and elka stage 5 shocks. Made a huge difference I felt. Sled was way easier to pull over and side hill or maneuver down hill. On trail the handling was much more predictable and with the Elkas could drive it as hard as I wanted...

Looking for Feedback on the '15 Viper's

The viper MTX also uses a different rail setup than the ac sleds. The front shock is over an inch longer and the mounting point is more forward. The front of the rails are longer and the mounting point for the front arm is higher. The vertical steering is also taller than AC.
