Seems that is the story of the winter over there...real **** show every weekend. Sure would be nice if the ice would melt off the first 2 k.

Anybody been at eagles last few days? Was there a few ago and it was terrible. Even in the back. All wind blow. Just wondering if it snowed some

Took a buz up owlhead today to break in a new engine. Sled Sicamous site says parking in main lot and trucks to 2.5 k with chains only and last 2 k extremely icy. What a joke, it is mud all the way. Drove up in two wheel drive, Plus 6 in the parking area and 0 at the cabin. Snow not good in my opinion and the area is mashed down like a weekend ride at Boulder. if your coming with anything but a deck be prepared to run dirt quite a ways.

Someone was splitting wood inside the cabin so the floor was littered with wood chips, sunflower seeds and drink containers. Not sure why people leave a mess like that so we swept it up. Don't think the groomer operator should have to clean that up. If that's leftover from last nights search and rescue operation I don't mind cleaning it up.

Anybody have and info about last nights search? The wife was panicking when we got the email asking for help with the search if we were available. I know she was found safe, but are there any details about how she became separated? My wife was grilling me about how I had better not ever loose her in the back country so I would like any learning info possible.

thanks in advance.

I am glad I wasn’t the only one catching the warnings from the wife lol. It’s always good when the search is done by midnight.

maybe Tex can chime in?

Got separated, no radios, no idea where they were at

New people to the area, obviously a eye opener for them, and they were not that far apart either I guess

I didn't go, just what I was told

it's time to plow the last 1/2 k of that road. Won't be long if this weather keeps up and they will need to plow to 6k. That is if the guy making the calls will "listen" to the groomer operators.

Since it wasn't S&R using the cabin (didn't think they would use a splitting axe on the floor inside) I will just say what a bunch of pigs. If your on here and reading this Find another area to go to.

I'm not surprised by anything that happens in todays world anymore. SEEMS TO BE LESS AND LESS PEOPLE THAT HAVE ANY REPECT...VERY disappointing.

I think we would all be lying to ourselves if we didn't admit that all of us at least once in our lives dodged a bullet in the backcountry. Maybe weather moved in when we were in the back or got confused trying to find our way out of an area. Maybe broke down way back or dropped into something we shouldn't have. We learn from it and prepare or adapt better for the next time. The guys that keep doing it repeatedly are the ones that need to be admonished publically in my opinion. I walked from way past Superbowl at Boulder to the parking lot with a buddy close to where Full Speeds shop is now back in 88. Now I am everyones conscience in my group when someone has a stupid idea at 3pm in the afternoon. Actually pretty much all the time's of the day now that I think of it lol.

Went up Owls yesterday, road is mud all the way to the 2.5 Parking lot who'd want to ride from the bottom got to be hard on the machines, having said that there was a 6 place up at the lot just one and can't blame the guy, however what is it going to look like if 4 or more go up? Blue lake being closed sure affected the riding this year along with Queest being plowed to 6k. Not sure what the solution would be but maybe creating a large lot at 2.5 and plowing and sanding the road when we have years like this one to help with those that have to trailer? Not sure. Having said that went from Owls to Blue and back it is tracked to **** and has been warm up top which yesterday resulted in those rare places with some untouched have settled and are heavy to navigate in but you could drive just about anywhere. If it doesn't snow soon this guy will be pulling out the boat soon:cool:

Agree with the parking situation and also agree they should have plowed that road up a long time ago. We have had years like this before and Gord would just make the call and plow it to 2.5 and then to 7. I can recall at least one season we staged at 7 k all winter.

Advertising on their site that it is chains are required and it is solid ice up to 2.5k all winter and they still are, leads to people coming out and they must be pissed when they find out they have 2.5 k of rock and mud to ride.

Was up Quest yesterday and parking was difficult with many trailers up there.

Be seeing ya on the lake soon.

yesterday Rode over to Blue Parked at 6.5 k with truck and deck. road is snow covered from 2.5 on and large enclosed parking at 2.5. Bluebird sight seeing day with firm conditions. Some ok snow in trees by blue lake. spring stuff nothing great. Seemed to be better over on Quest the other day.

No Drove up all the way in 2 wheel drive even though they are still advertising "extremely icy and chains required" On truck pulling an enclosed to 6.5 had chains on. A few were stuck up there when the firm snow they parked on softened in the afternoon. Not room at 6.5 for enclosed trailers but some still do it.
