anyone? Is it possible to twist/preload a old polairs (ind lite) p85 secondary clutch too much?

Quick question, im assembling my sons 98 polairs indy lite secondary clutch and Im wondering if its possible to install helix with too much pre-load??? Manual said install and then twist/preload 1/4 turn but that never got the ramp to the next button/sliders. SO I twisted it closer to 1/3-1/2...

Fore sure im after a 3". I only found real good deals ($1100-1200) on just a Polaris take off series 7 and a camoplast X3. Quite curious on anyones opions? As the Polaris series 7 is very new. Thks

Thanks guys, now that Im out of the mountains, I will test to see how far away it kills motor. Yes it is 5watts. I guess I need to find out if its just my sled or other etecs aswell. Maybe ill get some answers once they read that engine code.
