Quick question, im assembling my sons 98 polairs indy lite secondary clutch and Im wondering if its possible to install helix with too much pre-load???
Manual said install and then twist/preload 1/4 turn but that never got the ramp to the next button/sliders. SO I twisted it closer to 1/3-1/2 turn to get to next button/slider.

I did try 1/4 turn and it just rotates back to closest button/sider so had very Little pre-load and won't even spring back when twisted.
Im using spring hole settings B/1.

Thanks guys!

Is it a new spring? Too much preload will just cause it to rev out more before the belt shifts into the clutch. You may risk breaking the spring if it is wound too tight and the clutch gets to the full shift out while running. You don't need a lot of spring tension for a 340 motor in the secondary clutch.

You did it correctly. You need to rotate it 1/3 to 1/2 because there are only 3 ramps and you have to get over the first one in order to get any preload.
