    Winch on Sled Deck

One thought would be to permanently mount the winch just to the mounting plate(like Rene's plate design) and make holes in the plate for mounting bolts. Next, run a set of longer mounting bolts from the UNDERside of the deck up to the top of the deck with washers/nuts securing just the bolts to...

Cataract creek snowmobile area offical thread 2015/16

Go west…just keep going west. One positive memory, regarding the trail signage, was that there was an area map and a ‘you are here’ reference at every trail junction. The less familiar users felt that this was a definite help. Hopefully any new signage continues that tradition.

    Sled deck on 1/2 ton?

Was at Custom Truck Parts and eavesdropped on a deal going down with a 2015 Toyota Tacoma guy wanting a Marathon. …seemed his biggest concern was how to extend his mirrors for when the deck wings were fully extended. Their coffee pot was empty so I didn’t stick around long enough to see how it...

    Easiest way to replace rails?

Buffed them out with a little 220 grit... It was a 'government job'... I'll make sure the skid's full of snow before I show it off. We also thought over-doing it was better than having to re-do it.

    Garmin GPS Trails of Cataract?

A few years ago, we toured the trails in the Etherington/Cataract area. Attached are the Garmin GPS tracks from a couple of those trips. I don’t know the names of the trails but I way pointed the trail junction signs along the way... just numbering them. We didn’t cover all the trails but got a...

stocking truck up for first highway closure

Besides the standard 'so I don't die' stuff, my favorite item is the Uniden programmable VHF scanner. Almost anything coming off of an antenna, I can hear. This would include Parks Canada, highway maintenance, RCMP and anything else you can think of. ...makes the time go by a little faster.

    Polaris Dealership Dilemma

I choose Mountain Toys because Cycle Works North was swamped and couldn’t fit me in (2wk wait). The mechanic I dealt with was also a rider and new exactly what needed to be done with my machine (with respectable pricing). There will have to be a few gamblers who try Okotoks before we get the...
