Hi, Im looking for a good deal on a 450 or larger Yamaha WR or similar bike. Budget would be under $5g... actually the cheaper the better and older units would be fine for what I plan on doing with it. Let me know what you got! Thanks, Joel

A bit too much clink, but would be nice for sure... Got offered an 04 CRF450R w/new rims&tires and pipe today for 2g... Pretty tempting. But no lights etc... I have a few weeks to find the right bike at the right price so mama dont have a bird... Thanx tho

I need a bike so I can ride with my kids but still be able to use it out exploring new trapline trails out west, maybe even leave from home once or twice. I want good power and long gearing, as well as everything to be street legal in case I want to go for a boot to a buddys around home too. I really cant afford fancy or new for this toy as I have others requiring upkeep as well. My last bike was an 01 YZ250 i bought new and rode til 08.

Newer 400 Don?? , dunno mine hauls azz.... Bit heavyer than a 450, but closer to a 450 than light 250 4 smoke, way more than a 250 2 smoke

Same 400 engine as the z400 quad, and they where and are fast for what they where

a 400 zook has more power than a 2 smoke 250? what year of 250 are you talking, like a 1974 elsinore?

drz 400 has like 32hp. 1974 elsinore had 29. new 450 4 stroke has 50-ish. a newer 250 2 stroke has around 50 hp. there would have to be a lot of work done to your 400 to have anywhere near the hp of a 250 smoker made in the last 20 years. just sayin

Not knowing , but when I test rode it before buying it, I was looking for a newer 250 2 smoke

It sold me on it with test ride, more than enough to hurt me lol

Actually too much, but a 4 smoke u can lugg more and not have to ride the peek, so I bought it

We are going nowhere fast fellas
Listen to tee....I believe it is damn near impossible to register/insure a conversion bike for street use? Unless you're just doing the "few mile thing". If just rockin it go newer yammi. From what I remember the 400 yammis sucked without hot start. And for my real 2 cents. I'm about 205 naked and found the 250 4 strike to be a very fun rideable bike. But I was a 125 guy 10 years ago and like revving. Found the 250 4 very trailable. Although used to slipping the clutch quite a bit.

I just picked up a 2008 wr250f. One of the best dual purpose bikes out there.
fuel injection is the ticket, as for power most dual purpose bikes are detuned for emmisions and you can easily squeeze some more juice from them.

Unless you're going to go ktm the wr is the bike to look for.

Good morning. I am not sure what "tee" is really saying except hp ratings. I am a pretty decent off road rider and am firm on my list of wants. I know you can add signal lights, a mirror, a horn and DOT rated tires and register a WR for on road use. KTM makes bikes that need nothing to be road worthy. This is what I am looking for, not a 250F or 250-2Stroke. I am prepared to wait until I find exactly what I am looking for, no settling or compromises.

I've plated a few bikes before they clamped down on it, you won't get it done that easily anymore. keep us posted

Last year I picked up a blown up drz400 that had a bunch of goodies on it already. Now shes a stroker, big bore, full exhaust, aftermarket carb, hot cams, and a tonne of other goodies. Unreal bike. Around the same power as a new 450 race bike and completely street legal.

that was the way I got my last one plated....young chick that couldn't figure out why my VIN kept trying to say it was an OHV. I just kept insisting it was a streetbike, and she had to do some kind of override to get it to go thru.
