that was the way I got my last one plated....young chick that couldn't figure out why my VIN kept trying to say it was an OHV. I just kept insisting it was a streetbike, and she had to do some kind of override to get it to go thru.

im sure you know this but if you get into a serious accident and you get laid out... upon inspection of the bike...your insurance is worthless... just saying

it's insured for exactly what it is, and will pass any inspection. it has once already

There are cheaper exc's out there on kijiji. It will be an older bike like 08 and a 450 and stock. I can say without a doubt that the exc is the best dirt bike I have ridden or owned. It is worth the extra money. But if you are stuck then you can get a dr 400 or 650 pretty cheap. There are lots going for the $3000 range. A guy at work bought a mint 400 for $3200 a month ago. It won't keep up to mine in the dirt but will on the gravel and street and does the job. The wr takes work to get plated unless it is already so if you don't want to do any work put install the plate and ride get something that is ready to go

are you talking your 450x... i was told mine plated would not be covered if i was hurt as ultimately it still says not street legal on the vin... just my insurance guys opinion... when i sold it the guy who bought it was happy as it was "grand fathered in" which he believed covered him... not sure but i personally believe insurance companies will screw you where they can... and most cops just see turn signals and break lights... when i did my x i was in small town BC the insurance broker also could not find honda 450x but my NVIS number said street legal as i knew the dealer and agreed he would check the box for me... they new buyer also has that NVIS i tried to warn him but often worry what if? he swears the bike will stay off road just wants it for re sale value! anyhow... Troy i always trusted your opinion not trying to an azz hat just saying food for thought...

if i had to do it all over i'd buy the street legal ktm just to be safe

no worries man, didn't mean to seem annoyed with your post. a few years back in here somewhere we had a discussion on insurance and whether they would honor a policy on a plated bike, so I just went to my insurance co and flat out asked. my agent suggested I take the bike to be inspected, and if it passed he said he could see no reason why they wouldn't honor the policy should I be involved in an at fault accident. I took my 450x to a honda dealer and had a certified motorcycle mechanic go over it and it passed. I brought the paperwork back to my agent and he made a copy of the inspection for their records. as far as he was concerned, there was no issue with my coverage. if something happens and they don't cover it, I'll just sue him lol.
