Anyone know if there is a dealer in central alberta that stocks standby generators for residential purposes? I see lots online but would prefer to buy locally. Looking for one with a remote start option from an automatic transfer switch.

I have heard that Costco.ca maybe Costco.com has a beauty. Propane or LNG with auto start/stop. No need to store gasoline and fuel would always be there sort of thing.

Home Depot has a 7KW complete with an ATS for $2100. I just want a couple circuits for fridge, furnace and sump pump.

A 5000 watt would run that i would think, plus a few lights, Won't run everything at the same time, But a cheap gen may work fir occasional

I used my 4000 inverter a couple times now and it will run all the necessities. runs the fridge, furnace lights and TV fine. Just no 220 for the well pump.

This is a great thread! I would like to hear some real world experiences with these generators during power outages... Very interesting as you really could eliminate your power bill altogether saving all "delivery charges/monthly" bills, if natural gas is on site or close by...1

Can it be set up so when you hit say a light switch it activates? Because i'm out of the shop more than I'm in it....
