I just buy a 6 pack of chains when they are on sale lol.
6 chains should last you over 10 years, be kind to your money! Lol

I take it to the local logging supply place and pay them 6 bucks to do it.

Yup I'm brutal at chain sharpening so I just carry two. When it gets dull switch it out and drop it off at the local saw shop.

I find it easier to drop saw off at the shop. It magically gets sharp.

Yup. When I was buying my chainsaw I told them to sell me a sharpener to. He then said told be it was $10 to sharpen a blade. I told him to keep his sharpener.

If you are any kind of a volume user with a chainsaw sharpening is not really an option it is a necessity. I usually field sharpen mine 6-8? Times before taking to the shop to get done on a machine. Honestly once you figure it out it’s faster to sharpen than change a chain. Way easier on the bar and saw as well as the user having a ripper of saw vs trying to cut down a tree with a grinder..

I can’t sharpen a chain for chit, but this little guy works pretty well. Files the tooth and the raker with every stroke.

Patients, practice and lock your wrist, biggest thing I see is a chain is sharpened to much on one side and it cuts crooked and wears the bar uneven making it worse.
Its easier to learn not to dullen the chain. Lol

I do what they said at the beginning of the video.
Sharpen it every time I add gas and oil
Takes a few minutes, but I always have a nice sharp saw.

This is what I’ve always done. A quick fuel oil and beer while I file and then back at it. Saves time in the long run not having to try and cut with a dull chain and spend more time filing after.

The best way I found to keep the chain even is, I sharpen the side that I find hardest to sharpen first.
I have used a chain all the way to the wear marks.
