Rusty chrome wheels

So I have the usual alberta dilemma my chrome wheels are only a couple of years old and look like crap all ready, I have tried polishing, steel wool etc.

Anybody have any super duper tricks or polishes that work like magic?

Also considering dipping or powder coating but would like to try the low cost route first

Try Lous 222 works awesome with very little effort.

If your rims have rust spots use a can or two of coke with a SOS pad or a scotch brite pad and then apply some Mothers Chrome polish or any other brand of polish. Amazing how the coke cleans!!!

Wheel acid. Google it. A detailers dream! VERY Harsh stuff, wear rubber gloves for sure. Rinse first with garden hose. Then spray on. Wipe wheels with sponge. Rinse off. No scrubbing involved. Never inhale the fumes of this stuff. Watch how you spray this stuff if it's windy, you don't wanna breath this stuff in. It work on aluminum to, but mix 3:1, water to wheel acid. Aluminum will require a hand polish afterwards.

Buddy works at a detailing shop and uses it, said it works great for removing rail dust off of cars that come in off of the rail cars. Highly recommended. Polishing after is a lot easier on aluminum.

A buddy of mine swears by using household vim cleaner. Gets rid of dull chrome and removes light rust.
