you are correct but there are other reasons for using it....Flashing can indicate the intention to overtake or pass another driver, or to signal a driver who has just overtaken that he or she can now return to the original lane. Flashing can request or insist that a leading driver speed up or change lanes to get out of the way of a faster following driver.

I like to use it on highways at night when there is very little traffic....I have had a vehicle or two over the years drift into my lane as they are passing..inattentive drivers don't always realize there is someone coming up and around them....this alerts them that you are coming up beside them...its a safety feature. And yes it is also to help guide truckers with long loads of when they have cleared the vehicle in front of them.

Both are intended as a courtesy gesture.

Right or wrong, here's how I do it:

-trucker passes me on the left, courtesy flash to him when he's clear to come back in my lane. Results in a "thank you" blinker from the big truck quite often
-I come up on a left lane camper that could, but is not making significant progress in his "pass", I flash this unit constantly. GTFO of my way you cocksplat!
-I do not "flash to pass" as an alert to me initiating a pass on 2 or 4 lane roads.

Proof please?

Do whatever you please. But don't complain when a driver reacts badly to you doing something stupid. Flash lights at me and you'll get it back much worse. You say "safe passing" please show me in the law where it states blinding someone with lights is a warning to pass. It's something someone who has no idea does. A quick flash? Yes times what 50 a night? Just enough for a driver to snap at one of the idiots doing it.....
Why do you need to give it back "much worse" a simple quick flash is all that's needed.
The idea that you need to hurt someone just because they offended you is a big issue that you really should deal with.

Just finished a 13 day Harley trip with five couples. Rode all through BC interior the Kooteney’s and north. Residents of BC welcomed us with open arms. It was really sad down in the Kooteney’s. The small communities closed and restricted and half of everything was closed. I’m sure many family’s are stressed. We Spent a couple nights in Nelson andI’m thinking the homeless really appreciate the CERB checks. Downtown was full of junkies. Sad to see in a small community like that Or any community

Cerb has breed laziness. This is JTs way of buying the crack head votes, all with our tax dollars. Now we have to give people bonuses for going back to work? What about the people that never stopped, o right. The people that can use there own heads to think aren't part of the socialist indoctrination. This country is in trouble with these pathetic excuses for leaders we have.

I'm in Ainsworth at the moment. Staying with family.
But had to take my truck in to Castlegar for some repairs.
They had no issues dealing with an Albertian. Even gave me a loaner car so I didn't have to sit at the dealership all day.

To the A-HOLE with red and white plates that was cruising through Fernie today using our highway as a ashtray. Keep going east back and don't ever come back. What a azz!!! He certainly didn't care when I was behind and screamed at him to use the ashtray. Wish we had a red light.

Wow - all that anyone asks for is to just be respectful of where you are at , we don’t need more vandalism caused by blatant idiocy ruining It for everyone. We have just began reopening and reports like this only add to the twisted reasoning surrounding license plates.

Just got back from a couple days of business in the Okanagan. All I can say is I met a lot of people there and we were very well received. Nice people for sure in that area, really genuine.

You stated your son follows people to confront them? True or just big Talkin?

Pretty hard to catch the sarcasm with your statement.
True. Never said follow but if they stop at a gas station a talk is warranted when they just passed everyone on a solid line in a corner a couple km out from the next town and then pull in for gas. That wsnt you was it?

Is he a cop or citizen on patrol? Met with the wrong person civil justice can also be handed out to the hall monitors.

On a lighter note, I saw 3 Alberta license plates and a hand full of American ones today and not once did feel the need to finger any of them or run anyone off the road or criticize them at the gas pump. Maybe I'm getting soft as I get older or I there isn't enough effs to go around.
