Yes...sort of. It says wealth is growing fastest for those who are already incredibly rich. Not sure why you, I or any US citizen who are part of the 99% should be excited about that. I suppose there are more crumbs that fall off their banquet table so some can eat better if they are allowed near it. Not like they are going to help anyone else out in a meaningful way. There are some exceptions to the rule, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet as an example but both of those guys, who are much wealthier than Trump, said they did not want the tax breaks Trump imposed and are giving huge sums of money away to causes important to them.

Trump is making a system that helps the rich get richer even more focused on that goal. He is likely the biggest beneficiary of the tax breaks and yet represented himself as one of the little people. Total BS which isn't really any surprise.

Says weakth is growing faster in U.S. Than anywhere in the world , that's impressive. Trump must be repairing and altering all the screw ups the last few governments created to cause that slide down the wealth scale eh ? He said he'd make America great again !!

You are right, we need to confiscate all that wealth from those rich business owners and redistribute it to the poor people.

Sorry, you're hatred is clouding your vision. You're like the Democrats in the U.S., Trump could give every American a $5000 cheque , from his own pocket, and you'd complain he was condescending or wasn't smiling sincerely enough when he gave it, then attempt to justify or support your opinion with whatever journalist you could find that agrees with you.

The old saying, you are better to be thought an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. But unfortunately for 52 the barn door has been wide open far to long now.

I couldn't be bothered with hatred. Stick to debating an idea instead of commenting on your interpretation of my feelings. I do not begrudge successful people their money except to the extent that they are dishonest about earning it. I am curious though at what point one has accumulated enough that you cannot give something back to the country (or countries) where you earned it.

The middle class is what makes economies go and the more people who are in that category, the better it is for everyone including the very rich. Once you hit a billion dollars or so, do you really need to get a tax break to make ends meet? I doubt it. A tax break in the middle class is really what makes a big difference as we all go out and spend our money on stuff that keeps the economy going - trucks, cars, sleds, ATV's and such assuming we aren't still buying basics like food and shelter.

As far as suggesting I am a socialist, so are you and all Canadians who have ever been to a doctor in Canada. Certainly our system has its problems but it works fairly well overall. It needs to be improved not dismantled. The system seems to be evolving somewhat to where it is not a big deal to pay extra to get surgery that isn't life threatening (knee surgery for example) performed quicker than if you just wait in the line.

If Trump ever decided to give 5K away to every US citizen, I would be amazed and applaud that. He wouldn't get very far if he was giving his own cash away (350,000,000 X 5,000 is 1,750,000,000,000.) Not really a concern though as I am pretty confident he wouldn't make any personal grand gestures.

Well he has refused the normal remuneration for that position, sounds pretty grand to me . How many times have you took on a role that would be as demanding or time consuming as his, and passed on any income ??

Hmmmnnn. Lets think that one through. According to Google the annual salary for the President of the USA is $400,000 per year according to Google so that certainly looks like a grand gesture. That works out to $1,600,000 for four years. How much extra do you think he is making now that his tax cuts for the super rich have kicked in? I think it is safe to say he came out ahead on that exchange.

His 757 private jet costs about $8,400 per hour to operate. It is about 2 hours and 45 minutes from Washington to Mar A Lago where he goes alot. Call it twice a month so 24 times per year. So 24 times 5 1/2 times $8,400,00 per hour is about $1,100,000 he doesn't have to spend because he now uses Air Force 1. A quick search of what the hourly cost to operate a 747 suggests it is around $27,000 per hour.

https://www.bustle.com/p/how-often-...-it-wasnt-even-his-most-visited-place-7675471

I think the citizens of the USA should be somewhat annoyed with this particularly as one of his big complaints was that Obama spent too much time playing golf. Apparently Trump spends even more time playing golf.

I am not seeing any real grand gestures here. $400 K is literally walk around pocket money for those guys. But you are right. It is something. Herbert Hoover and John F Kennedy did the same thing as they were wealthy as well making Trump only the third President to do this in the last 90 years or so.

Again 52, your TDS is showing. Trump donates ALL his presidential salary.

You think Trump uses the jet more than his predecessors? Give me a break.

Typical socialist response. Once you’ve accumulated a certain level of wealth it no longer belongs to you, you must give it up to the state. What a bunch of BS. As far as the tax breaks go, it’s the wealthy who create jobs, not the poor. Not that all of society shouldn’t get the tax breaks, but suggesting that the rich shouldn’t get them just because they’re rich is BS as well.
And here in Canada we have no choice where we get our health care. Just because our medical system is socialist doesn’t make us socialist.

Again DaveB, you are attacking the person and not debating the point raised or countering it with more information which I am interested in. Trump uses this strategy to divert a conversation when it is not going his way. I never imagined that there would be a President whose primary response is to come up with some version of "I know you are but what am I." Seems childish to me.

Lenny mentioned that Trump waived his $400 K annual salary which is indeed a gesture but not really a meaningful one when you look at the kind of money the guy normally spends.

I have no idea if he uses AF1 more than his predecessors or not as that isn't information that is widely available. My point here is that when he is flying around in AF1, his own plane stays on the ground and saves him about 3 times what his annual salary would have been had he just been going about his business as The Donald rather than POTUS.

By the way TDS stands for a number of different things and not just Trump Derangement Syndrome. The Daily Show currently hosted by Trevor Noah, Total Debt Service ratio and a host of other things.

I am certainly not deranged and actually find it very interesting that people stick up for Trump given his actions on a pretty much daily basis. Interesting times for sure.

Not a socialist response CFM but an observation from someone who recognizes that no system is perfect and seeks the best model and works to improve it. So far, a medical system that fits the needs of most of the people most of the time is the best we have. I think it can be made better and it is slowly improving by finally allowing options to seek healthcare outside of the mainstream system. Knee surgery is a great example of something that if you can afford it, you can go have that done at a private clinic to speed things up. I think that is a good option as it shortens the lineup for those who cannot afford it.

Small business, according to Statistics Canada employs 98% of the population. https://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/061.nsf/eng/h_03018.html If you are like me and think that number seems a little suspect, call it 80%. Either way, it is the majority pf employment. It is similar in the US. https://www.sba.gov/sites/default/files/advocacy/United_States.pdf

So it is the private entrepreneurs who provide most of the jobs not the super rich. Nothing but alligator tears from those in that very small category who are among the 1/10 of 1 percent. Most of the recognizable ones in that category (Gates and Buffet) both stated they though the tax cut was completely unnecessary.

I find that as my personal affluence rose, I was more inclined to be generous and I am sure ultimately a good number of the super rich are as well. Trump doesn't give much indication that he is in that group and there has been lots of articles written that indicate he is not.

I am interested why you feel that the rich should be treated better than the average person like you and I. I think they should be treated the same not better which is how the system currently works generally and the latest US cuts amplified that.

Somehow I’m not shocked you watch the second-dumbest person on TV, Noah. Betting Samantha Bee (#1 dolt) is also on your viewing schedule.

I do watch Trevor Noah from time to time as he is witty, smart and funny. Although Samantha B is probably just as smart, I do not care for a shrill "over the top" narrative on daily events. As I have pointed out before, I consider myself a man in the middle and only pay attention to the far left or the far right when there is something to be learned which neither side provides with any reliability.

Trump has fired up and mobilized people with extreme right wing views and it has been a long time since the US has been that divided. Likely not since the civil war and that is not likely a good thing. When the US is united on something they are a most powerful and successful group (think WWII).

Defending his behavior on most things intrigues me as well. I would like to think nobody on this forum would encourage their kids to go to school and start calling someone names, belittling them and generally acting like a little a-hole. Trump does that every day and people seem to think that not only is that great, but they need to defend it. That behavior doesn't meet the mark for an average person and I am curious why people think it is a good trait in their President.

I suspect really the only reason he got elected is that Hillary was so unpopular. I think political parties everywhere need to do a better job of selecting their leaders.

figured I'd leave this here so 52weekbreak can keep busy for a while trying to debunk it ! :)

A serious subject to be sure. Apparently the arrests took place in California which isn't really the seat of Republicanism. If there have been only 1,500 arrests since Trump took office then they are as successful at that as every administration has been with marijuana (meaning they are only arresting a very small portion of what is out there). I imagine if one looks, you will find these numbers are pretty much on par with a five year average.

The article by headline says "Media Silent as over 1,500 pedophiles..." Probably not that good a number but not much different than the stats in previous administrations so it really isn't news and has nothing to do with Trump.

I can't decide which is more ridiculous - politicians claiming credit they had nothing, or very little to do with or the people who promote the BS producing such amazing headlines like "Trump makes sun rise sooner in eastern states than California"

lets face it... for you like for a lot of left wing people out there, it doesn't matter what trump does, it will either be wrong, or done by someone or something other than trump or his policies.... he'll never be able to do anything good that you will give him credit for...your bias against and hatred for the man prevents you from admitting that the man has, and will continue to do some good things....
