Had a set of chains for 16 in tires, went too Titan on the south side and picked up some parts and added some length too make these fit. Should come in handy.

Planning on digging a basement with those?

Now here's a question, on a 4x4, is it more advantageous to chain up your steering axle or your rears. Would the rattling be too hard on the front end components? I know it would be nice to run them on the steers when you're empty, as you have more weight up on your steers then on the back end, and you would have steering traction.

Chains on the front , if they don't get you there on the back, change your plans lol

You can't run chains up front on a lot of the newer trucks. My ford I can only put them on the rear.

Why not? I've never used chains but I'm curious what would prevent it?

Between the brake lines, ABS wires etc there's lots to get ripped off by a chain that gets a little loose, and when turning the chain will often squirm a little bit to the inside of the tire making this more likely to happen. Only under dire circumstances would I put chains on the front axle of a 4x4 because the ability of the tires to pull the front end around usually makes it unnecessary. The only time I've done it was to go down a very icy hill with a trailer on behind. I took one of the rear chains off and put it on the front, doing so allowed me to steer on the slope yet still have the grip on the rear axle to stop the trailer from pushing the rear end of the truck sideways. When I got to the bottom I put the other chain back on the rear axle. 2wd truck is a different story because the front axle doesn't drive. Often you'll have to put a steer chain on a 2wd.
And as for the comments about fords and chains, gmc and dodge never have chains installed because the drivers don't want to ruin their manicures and pantyhose installing chains.

90% of the trucks that carry chains, don't carry pliers. instead, they pack 500 bungees...chain pliers are waaay too complicated lol
