Conservatives were great. Building a sky palace, flying all over on our dime. Etc etc. Have some self respect, these are the people you want to run our province, a bunch of entitled, arrogant pricks?

Atleast now after the voters showed them we won't put up with their crap, maybe they will come back with a better attitude.

HELLO!! Oil prices were in the can before NDP took power. Nothing they have done to date has done anything to cause this. Raising taxes to match the rest of the country on corporate tax, has been the only thing to date. Where are we going to get money from if taxes aren't raised with oil revenue down? Sure raise every fee we can get our hands on like the conservatives planned to do?

Conservatives are hilarious, such sore, sore losers. If oil was $120/bar I doubt we would be hearing anything.

Oh i see one person did, I am sorry to say i did once in BC as well. Not long after the our debt was tremendous and all the high paying jobs disappeared. Welfare, minimum wage jobs and lots of red tape is what their specialty is

I here what your saying but it is not all about oil/corporate taxes wich by the way should have been adjusted long ago because these corps were getting a free ride with out raising wages. I am curious did u happen to vote for NDP and if not have you been able to sign any petitions on the carbon tax/bill 6 cause I am gonna say one thing and that is us out west will never see any of that carbon tax $ that's guaranteed but yet we All will pay dearly for it. And just a note the Windmill thing is all BS as well so I wont even open that can.

Bill 6, more entitlement. Farmers think they can operate without WCB OHS when the rest of us have to and btw every other province has it. What happens when their hired help gets hurt on site? I have wcb on my guys what makes them so special because they grow food and livestock?

But what about all their family and friends that help out? (Bull****). I grew up on a farm and other families ranches and I was never once paid in cash. There are other ways to be compensated and any farmer showing a profit in the books is not doing it right.

Have you even read the bill??

It specifically states that family, friends and neighbour help is omitted from these rules. Its only subject is PAID HIRED (aka employees) help. You have a job I assume? Do you work without wcb or ohs, maybe you should start.

Smokindave, you can't even spell Albertan right so not much of a worry there.

It's tough to gather tax money out of people who are no longer employed anymore, same goes for companies that are not makings profit......
You do realize that people who work for these huge corporations payed tax.... Now instead we pay them EI benefits !
The NDP will never understand this though...sadly for Alberta!

People who are laid off are collecting EI, its insurance they paid into, so why wouldn't they collect from it? It doesn't come from our pockets. EI is a federal program which insures employees earnings. Employers match what employees put into it.

I have many stocks in these oil companies, if you think they aren't making profits now you are sadly mistaken. Obviously they aren't making what they were at $120/bar.

If you have actually looked into the tax increases, it only affects some earners.

"The majority of Albertan tax-filers (about 93%) will not pay more as their taxable income falls into the first tax bracket (taxable income up to $125,000) and will continue to be taxed at the 10% rate."

Here go read it for yourself: Taxes & Rebates - Personal Income Tax Changes - Questions and Answers

You do realize oil is $35 a barrel on a world market. Do you expect the provincial government to waive their magic wand and fix that? This problem is bigger than Alberta and Canada, there is international forces at work here. We rely in Alberta on revenue from oil taxation, when oil is down it hurts us all.

so you're ok with a govt pushing through a bill without really knowing what the bill should be?? Forcing through a bill stating that they will tweak it over the next few months as they talk to the parties involved? Why not talk to the parties involved and THEN put through a bill that they know is right??

The NDP has introduced caps and new regulations as we'll as a royalty review .Imo this is not the time to do this, when oil is so low..

Where do you think federal tax dollars come from ?? Seriously.....again if you decrease the amount of potential tax payers , it would not matter how much you tax the RICH!!! It still would generate less income for the government .... Sorry this is a fact , proven over time on many countries around the world .
Of course the oil market is down, thus the government should be helping and promoting the oil industry, instead of creating a sense of fear & uncertainty in investors and stake holders !

I see it all boils down to your distaste of a company making a profit...even though our society would be doomed if it meant the government helped prevent that....imo
