You will be overweight with 2 sleds on a 1/2 ton, your air bags do nothing but even the load. You might not care......but I'll bet your insurance company will if you are in an accident......

Decks do not belong on half tones! If you want a deck buy the correct truck to use it. Otherwise pull a trailer.

Everywhere we sled there will be stories of "Bad Cops".
If your breaking the law, well then that's just the way it is and you get a ticket and maybe a little harassment.
If you beak off to the cop, well you can expect even more harassment.
99% of the cops are great guys and are only doing their job.
1% are having a glad day or may actually be a bad cop.
Please don't paint an entire town or province with the same brush just because a few peeps have had a bad experience. And always remember, there are two sides to every story.
We as sledders hate being painted with the brush we so often are so let's keep that in mind when posting.
Most Cops = Good Peeps Just Doing A Job.

Weigh the truck and estimate the load you'll carry then if your under your the legal weight limits on your door pillar you should be fine. Only u know what you will be carrying. Most half tons are usually overweight with the loads that have been mentioned. Weigh it and find out, don't guess or ask someone else, they have no idea, and you will be the one paying the fines, not them

this happened to me... said they were inspecting my uhaul for load sercurity... ya right i lived in BC at the time moving to AB probably thought i had my portable "tomatoe garden" with me... i immediatly phoned up cop buddies and they said this was legal but a very long shot for the officer... officer in court would have to prove he does this everytime and isn't just picking on you ect ect... the tire thing it use to be if you stuck out passed your fender wells you needed fender flares...
Im sure the cop in my case was on a fishing trip i didn't mind cause i had nothing to hide... but i wonder if i had a jerrry can not tied down if he would've ticketed me? That would piss me off...
Even if you only put one sled on it!?

it's like a gateway drug. pretty soon your friends are pressuring you, next thing you know you have two sleds on and feel shamed but just can't stop doing it. friends, family, everyone tries to get you to stop. "it's not hurting just you..." they say. it's a plague on our society and something must be done.

lol. Not worth it to me. I don't like giving cops reasons to pull me over. 1 ticket in 10 years, I'm good.

You may find this hard to believe but I was told a new Ford 1/2 ton with 4 people and there suitcases in it is overloaded.
F150's are somewhere around 1800lb payload while the dodge 1500 is 1400 lbs (confirm these numbers). Sled deck= 350lbs?, sled= 600lbs, driver= 200lbs, Gear/gas= 200lbs... That's basically at the limit of the dodge.

I was told by my RC friend that even a half ton with extra springs or air bags is a no go. It all has to do with brakes and breaking distance tied in with payload weight. The brakes are the problem.

The brakes on the F150 are larger than the Superduty
stopped in local bar after sledding silent one night,three Alberta trucks, Bar was full of locals, fight on big screen. Ate supper left to go to hotel.slowed down to look to see if Motortec was still open.Look in mirror cop there,Ask him why he pulled me over said checking for drunk drivers.I said I had nothing to drink.He asked me three times and then asked my why I was at the Bar. I asked him how he knew. He said He saw my Truck. I left not thinking to much of it,I get back to the hotel and find out they stoppped all three trucks,ya there not picking on Albertans. Lamo!!!!!!
