Hey guys!, just got home from a wonderful fall weekend in Valemount. Took the family up to the Clemina Cabin just to check things out.

Of course it wouldnt be a good trip without the local RCMP pulling me over. He had stopped me for having my HID lights and having my fog lights on. Of course it wasnt foggy so I understand being stopped for that, but as far as the HID's I was not aware and got the low down on that.

As it turns out they are not illegal, however in the stock headlight housing they are. They say it needs to be in a projector style lense and your A ok.

But as the officer and I started talking he began to tell me how they plan to have zero tolerance this year. Towing trucks and trailers as well as full fines will be enforced to the fullest.

So check your trailer and truck to be sure it is all compliant so you dont have a crappy time out there.

did you have projector lenses? good to hear they are cracking down on them for the right reasons. I also have HID's and proper projector housings, I brought spare halogen bulbs with me to BC just in case the rumors of them busting everyone with HID's were true.

I always laugh when I see these kinds of threads on here. I dont have my truck jacked up or hids on it, and my trailer breaks and lights work as well as my break away switch. I usually drive to the road conditions too!
Funny how I have no issue with the boys in blue, in B.C. ( knock on wood )

hear we go again talked to my brother inlaw this summer about the problem with the rcmp in the valemont area and he said he was quite surprised at what they are doing. He works for a town in Manitoba and he said they meet with the local rcmp once a month to discuse the problems that they see and what their concerns are and pissing tourist coming to the area for peddy things is not one of them. They are more concerned with dui , drugs and speeding than a strap thats not quite right or lights that are out of focus or fog lights that are on.Yes i'm sure most peaple that go to the mountains try to make sure their vehicals are safe and same with their trailers but it seems to be a constant pain in the ass that the only area u hear about is valemont and all this does is push the sledders away and this hurts the local business. Had several friends who went through valemont on their way to vancover and the officer was quite good about it he didn't tow the car but he did give them a hefty ticket for not haveing winter tires and my friend asked why he was pulled over and all he said is to check to see if he had winter tires on which surprised my friend because he had alseason tires on. Yes I believe that everyone should follow the law but have o tolerance for everything I hope the business's enjoy this good luck

Something us guys with trucks forget is those little cars that are also on the highway are lower to the ground and when your truck is loaded down with sleds that it tips your headlight up and they shine right into there faces. 2 winter ago we caught a ride with a Valemount local in their car and got a first hand view of HID's . It was not nice!!

WOW maybe someone should tell them to lay off a bit cause it will end up only hurting the town and its businesses there. Cause i know if thats how they are going to be i would rather just take my riding somewhere else which means spend my alberta oil money else where!
thats what my son and I do we usually ride in mcbride as their is alot of other groups are starting to do the samething as their getting tired of being hassled over petty things. Yes we do need to drive by the weigh scales but we just hope we miss the cops and this year we are going to start to ride more in revelstoke area. We do really like the valemont area but I don't need to be hassled for just driving down the highway and yes we may ride in valemont once and awhile but last year we were out 8 times and not one time were we in valemont so with that many rides from just me how much money are they losing if theirs 10 more groups stop going because all they are getting is hassled over nothing. So I guess the local peaple can thank your local police for pissing of sledders and tourist over petty laws instead of nailing thefts , dui or drug dealers in the area so which one is more important to go after. Sorry for ranting guys but this subject really gets under my skin because I do have alot of respect for the police but when they hand out tickets for law abiding guess who out to just have some fun sucks.

Very well said!!!!! I feel the exact same way. I go to the mountains to ride the ch!t out of my sled and basically drive there and ride and drive home usually go for at least 4days very least at a time. I will never go to valemont area. I have been to Revy many many times and not once been hassled by the local police. It is usually 1000 buck all said and done one trip for me out there and Revy get it everytime. So it is very sad that the local buisniess has to suffer in Valemont due to the police hassling. I have nothing against police either doing there job(my dad and brother both cops) but if someone is not being a jackass or deserving of a bullch!t ticket then dont hassle them with one!!! That is all i am going to say my 2 cents LOL
