Lots of discussions about sled decks and what trucks they should be on, how they are attached to the truck etc etc. This is the thread to talk about it. Feel free to post weights, experiences and more.

I currently have a 2008 F350 Crew cab 4x4 diesel. The weights are as follows with a full tank of fuel, sled deck on back.
Front axle: 2260kg
Rear axle: 1660kg
Total: 3920kg

Door sticker max weights are
Front axle: 2722kg
Rear axle: 3130kg

Previous truck was a 2004 Chev 2500 cc 4x4 6L. With deck on and full of gas.
Front axle: 1660kg
Rear axle:1380
Total truck: 3060kg.

Door sticker max weights are:
GVWR 3901kg
GAWR FRT 2000kg
GAWR RR 2722kg

Its a Marathon deck and have had it turnbuckled down for 3 years without problem, this year I may bolt thru

Hello, My name is zal and I have a sled deck. I have been running my sled deck for for 4 years now. I am happy with my sled deck since I built it the way I wanted it. Yes, its out of steel and is heavy compared to others but I'm okay with that. Its also a full 8' x 8' and doesn't slide. I have used turnbuckles to hold down said deck, but since have changed it to bolt down using the brackets from a fifth wheel hitch. I put the above deck on a 2007 Dodge 2500 short box hemi. I have never had any issues and hope to have many years of use. Thank You.

goodthing you upgraded to a f350 teamgreen. needed something to haul that sherman tank around with.

anyways. have got 5 stf decks and a new to me crosstracks. beautiful deck. the stf worked well also but they are no longer in business. like the higher sides on the crosstrax. all of them are attached via turnbuckles with no issues.

I have a new to me Truckboss on a 08 GMC 2500hd. I have it installed but have not yet used it to haul anything. Should find out soon enough if the box sides are going to fold up. ;)

I dont have any pics, but it goes on pretty much like a truck canopy. Uses clamps to secure it to the box rail. It also has 2 legs at the back, they seem pretty light duty, but are off to the side so they dont obstruct the box. I like that it is fairly sealed unit and gives max usable box space. Hopefully marathon is right, and the box sides can hold the weight.

Haven't heard any issues with the box not holding the weight, just a cracked box on a truck that spent a lot of time on logging roads. No legs on the deck and before they changed the design a bit to allow the deck to flex.

(2722+3130) - (2260+1660) x 2.2 = 4274 aprox

so your saying you can have 4200 lbs on legally?

i have a 08 f250 with air bags and trying to decide if i wanna go with a deck....

i know weights have been discussed and discussed on here before but that doesnt seem right...

Well thats what the scale said. I doubt you can get that much on it as most weight would be on the rear axle and not the front.

I have a marathon on my 09 chev 2500. I have it turn bucked and bolted through the box i just use large fender washers on the bolts. i run air bags in the rear they are independent of each other (this is a must ran my first truck with them in a common line made the truck sway like crazy). with two sleds on and 55lbs in the bags the weight feels very well balanced.

My buddy and I both have Cross trac Decks, Both are on F-250's, We have been using the standard ford bed hooks with turn buckles for two yrs now, We both haul two 800's on them, So your looking at 650+LBS EACH, SO 1300+ LBS. We have been out at least a dozen times with them on the trucks hauling are trailers out to bighorn or out west etc...,, We both have firestone airite bags on the back, It makes a world of difference. running 30psi.

i weighed the truck with half a tank of fuel and me in it and weighed 8200 lbs.

so web sources said the f350 has a payload of 4100 lbs and the f250 has a payload of 2300 lbs. if thats the case thats a huge difference.

For those of you with Cross Trax decks, what do you think of the 2 piece ramp systtem? Is it a big deal to assemble it?
