Were you winching?

Rev the engine while winching, the ECU monitors the Battery voltage, when it drops beneath 12v that warning will occur.

Had the same problem with my 07 800 turned out that the winch was dying. You see it( the limp home warning) come on, just turn the key "off" wait a few secs and turn it on again. I took my winch apart and found that the last owner hadn't dried it out after use or a wet ride. Check the brushes in your winch.

Maybe you have a short somewhere? I have had battery drains from alkali and mud build ups on my battery connections and the solenoid too.

I was winching (very little) and I always rev it up when I winch. I thought that it was the weak battery, but there is a low battery warning as well...so I thought the limp home check engine warning was caused by something else maybe. I'm thinking it's nothing more than a tired battery now. and...I don't think buying a brute force will solve my very small problem lol thanks guys.

Had a Battery and Stator replaced under warranty. At first thought it was the battery, it would not hold a charge, could not get it above 12v.

BRP and my Dealer were really good to deal with.

were you able to start the machine or was the battery completely dead?

By the way, probably shouldn't tell you this, but if you hit the reverse override button, it overrides the limp mode as well.

yes the engine will start but after a few minutes low battery

Is it the original battery, do you keep it on a maintainer over the winter?. Have you any accessories that were connected directly to the battery?.

Try and isolate the problem, first by eliminating the battery.

The Can-Ams actually put out 400watts about a 75 more than our BF750. The problem is that the ECU monitors the voltage of the Battery, so when it drops beneath 12 during high demand it goes into "Limp Mode".
