After reading all the negative stuff on here about Polaris junk, I'm interested to hear from those that have had good luck. I have an 08 800 Dragon that has been pull and go since new, got the update done at 1400 miles and have another 400 since then. We also have an 07 600 RMK that has been bullet proof, I ride this thing like I don't own it (wifes sled)!! So is all we hear on these sites the bad stuff? There must be a percentage of motors not burning down, wonder what it is?

I only had my 2010 800 for 2 months now, but so far no troubles,
my brother in law has had his for 3 years and no engine troubles, but his shock seals leak and have had to be replaced, other than that we love em

I ride with a guy on an 08 dragon that has absolutely no respect for his machine, treats it like crap runs gas station oil and whatever fuel he can dump in it and after 3800 kms it runs strong. It was updated right off the hop. mods include single slp pipe and boondocker box. I think the secret is to hold her to the bars and run it like hells freezing over and you want a new sled so you can ride there!!

picked up an 03 800 rmk for the wifey this summer. as lots of peeps know we bought used at an auction. got it home and it was makin a rattling noise inside and didn't idle worht a chit but pulled crazy hard when pinned. checked plugs one was a little gray/white changed them and it ran better for a bit then same plug went same color and idling got bad. knocky sound maybe a bit worse:confused: thought oh no the infamous bottom end issus. pulled engine and checked it out. ended up being had a coolant leak into cylinder that ended up wearing the skirts a bit causing piston slap. put a set of slugs and honed the jugs and it rips hard. got 151 mile on it since going good has 3500+ original according to odometer. rides exc. imo and pulls crazy hard.
had a 95 xlt first ever sled took a licken rode for three yrs before i slod it fo 100 bucks more than i bought it for. kid ate a couple trees with it and wife rode for a yr too. also had a 96 xcr sp. factory piped and case reed engine. that thing ripped once i got it jetted properly those triples were torque monsters for the timeimo especially when compared to the piston port cousin of theirs.
overall exp. with poo s has been good never had an issue with any of them that wasn't somewhat self inflicted:d

Ha Ha !!! sounds like how I ride mine, it's rolled down some big hills, hit some big rocks and just basically been abused, I love it.

Knock on wood all is well with mine. Like I said in a previous thread my 03 escape had over 10,000 miles and motor was done once. I just bought an 08 Dragon from a good friend and top end was just done with over 4000 miles.

Keep em coming guys, maybe we can reduce some of the bad vibe on here. I have had worse luck with all the other brands myself, though I have never owned a Yamaha.

I have a 2010 Assault, and absolutely love it!

A- Arms replaced (one was my fault, the other is up for debate) and an exhaust sensor has failed, about 1,000 miles on it now. Best sled I have ever had, but can not compare it to many others. I do love the riding style and I am the loner in my group of peers (that have Doo's and Cats).

This sled has taken my abilities to a much higher level of riding, and yes I can keep up with all of my peers, may not be the first one to the next fresh POW but it certainly has been dependable so far.

I think a person has to keep in mind that no matter what you buy (sled, bike, truck, quad, etc.) there is a percentage that is going to fail. There is nothing built today that is 100% guaranteed not to fail. Sometimes it is machine, sometimes it is operator.

With the advent of the internet you just happen to hear about things sooner and more often than before.

07 600 rmk: not babied at all, New rear suspension from jumping, on it's third set of shocks due to bent shafts and major blowouts (gotta love the WE airs being treated like exits.. haha), new bumper, new a-arm and lower plastics, 2 new skis, new handlebars and bruised ribs for the rider and a broken hand in that time.

3800 miles of both high and low elevation riding and sled ran like a champ the whole time, never had issues performance wise and never skipped a beat, every issue was rider created because I was "learning" how to ride, haha.

2011 RMK: Sled got new skiis when I bought it and put walker evans resevoir shocks with dual rate springs, EVOL rear shock with Fox zero pro front shock, been trying to run it ragged for the last 700 miles and not a single stumble or complaint, so far all low elevation miles ditch beating it and riding meadows, by far best sled I have rode. Can't wait to get out on it more!!!

i rode my 99 700 RMK for 8 years that sled was the bomb!! I still have pieces of it. The bulkhead finally let go at an estimated 9000 miles(didnt run stock hood).SLP engines lasted 3000 miles a piece with no big bearing kits. just the normal welded crank, porting, head, pipes and boost bottle. Rebuilt the engine to stock and its still kickin around the lake, must have 10,000 plus miles on the cases!!

polaris is known to blow up easier. you have to take everything on these forums with a grain of salt. for instance. out of the 100000 (just a random number)polaris sleds out there, you come to this site, and you see 100 threads all on bad luck with polaris. it doesnt mean that the other 99900 people arent happy and having no issues. most people will only report problems they are having, so it just looks bad because its concentrated to one sub forum. all sleds today are stellar in their own way, its just what brand you want to root for. jmho

2011 Pro RMK with 1200 miles - no issues, goes like a raped ape. Had a 2010 800 Dragon before, sold to a friend, now with 2000+ miles - no issues. First sled was a 2008 700 RMK - also no issues. I really don't understand how some of these sleds can be so bad. You just have to learn to keep it squashed, they last much longer that way!!!

That is the reason I started this thread, is it true or just internet theory. Had a buddy buy a new Summit in 07 made it 7 miles on it's maiden voyage, but don't read about it on here that they are crap. Just wanted to try and lower the anger about Polaris that seems to be prevelant on this site.
