Torsion vs compression clutch spring?

Torsional secondaries went the way of the dodo simply because they don’t work well in reverse, and pretty much every new 2 stroke sled has engine reverse. In my opinion ( and it is just an opinion), the torsional secondary is a better performer, offers better belt life, and is much easier on components. If reverse isn’t important to you, or you have mechanical reverse ( 4 strokes), the torsional is the way to go IMHO, ran them on ski-Doo s-chassis, zx chassis, rev chassis, and m-series with good results

Thanks for the reply. Bikeman straight out says you won't be able to back up in snow. Reverse will still work backing up in the shop and off the trailer. I'm fine with that. The longer belt life, harder grabbing and increased track speed is worth the pay off for me. Might give it a try on my 20 alpha.

In my experience, using reverse is pointless, all you’ll do is smoke the belt, whether on the snow or a oncrete floor. The advantage is better belt grip with less side force (heat), and a more sensitive clutch (better backshift).
