I have the chain case apart on a new to me turbo nytro.Top gear is 20 tooth bottom 40 tooth.I have to buy a new chain so not against changing gears. Is my ratio right?
thanks
thanks for the reply.i meant should i be changing to a 19 tooth gear or a 21 tooth?Or is 20 tooth top where it should be for my power and track.
thanks again
If it stock gearing, I know mine was stupid fast you would want to gear down a bit IMO. Bigger on driven, smaller on drive.Going to be pulling mine apart to install upgraded bolt in reverse assembly again and swap out seals and bearings, going to replace chain and gear down a bit this time as well, bigger driven if chain will allow. ??
75% of the people probably say the 19/40 is the way to go. Clutches seem to run cooler with less belt slippage. That is what I have in mine and it works fine. Like the chart shows, stock chain length is correct.
22/40 gearing is stock om my MTX -08 in Scandinavia. To gear down to 20/40 as i am running i hade to put on a shorter chain 68 links. 22/40 and 70 links is stock. I do belive the belt runs cooler vid lover gearing, but i lost lots of trackspeed above 80km/h when i tried 19/40. Put 20/40 backon. We run lower altitudes over here=more power
If I remember right from last season, with 19/40 the sled will do over 160kmh or 100mph. That was with a 162 X 16 X 2-1/2. Altitude won't make much difference with boost. Clutches will run cooler with the lower gearing for sure but some guys do run taller gears for more trackspeed.
